Yesterday I suddenly started getting the following error message when opening some (but not all) files:
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1J8WHFZm6BrZl9dkBSSCHucGP0xa_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1J8WHFZm6BrZl9dkBSSCHucGP0xa)
Anybody any clue as to why this is happening & what I should do about it? BTW I'm using PSE3.

Same thing here, and I use PSE4 on a Mac. Only one of our three computers has had the problem so far. Hope someone can figure it out.

Bayla....
It would look like your Edit>Colour Settings is on Allow me to Choose (I have PSE4 but I think 3 was the same).
What this means is that some of the images you are trying to open do not contain colour profiles and Elements is asking you what you want to do about it since it really needs something to work with.

Thanks for the quick reply. I bet that is the answer. I do remember playing with that setting - will have to check it out when time allows.

I think this is part of your other problem with the green cast. I think I remember you mentioning it went away when you stopped opening it a certain way. I never have used the organizer and I almost always get that message. I just let it default and have no problems.

When I go to Edit>Colour Settings this is the dialog box that comes up:

This is what it is on and has always been on. I've not changed anything. Is this the correct setting?

Bayla.....
That's the correct setting....slightly different from PSE4 though. As I mentioned before it's indicating that you have an image with no Colour Profile embedded in it. In which case you have to make a decision on how to proceed.
If you have some knowledge of where the image came from you may be able to guess that it's sRGB or AdobeRGB. sRGB is more common.

Colin,
Thanks. I think I've isolated which images I get this message with. My daughter put an album on Snapfish & I copied the pictures to my album and then downloaded them to my computer. Only these pictures are prompting me to choose colour settings, not ones taken on my camera.
