View Full Version : Spots on scans?

I have an HP scanner that puts lots of tiny white spots on my scans. I don't know if it's a glare from the original photo or what. Doesn't seem to matter if I scan at high res or low...

There are 2 HP scanners in the house and both produce spots.

Any ideas how to make the spots go away so they don't get scanned in? It's VERY tedious cloning them out...

Hi Val

A couple of things to try.

Turn the original 90 or 180 on the glass and then scan. This may stop the reflection of the texture.... usually the cause of this.

You can also try scanning with either a transparancy between the photo and the glass or put the photo in one of those clear sleeves and try scanning.
Either of these may produce other issues but worth a try.:)

Instead of 90 or 180 degreess you can also try just a small change of angle, which can often prevent interference patterns.

Thanks, Gary and Colin. I'll give those ideas a try!
