Hi all..
I am brand new to Photoshop Elements. I have just received 6.0 and my daughter had purchased LOT OF actions for it as it is a christmas present. My problem is that according to Atomic Cupcake they work in 3,4 and 5 but will they also work in 6? I have tried to get them installed and I cannot seem to do it. According to atomic cupcake instructions I am suppossed to ....
2. Copy the entire "atomic_cupcake_frostedglass" folder to the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0\Previews\Effects folder.
3. Open the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0\Previews\Cache\Effects Cache folder.
4. Delete these 3 files "CategoryCache.che", "ListCache.che", "ThumbNailCache.che" (these are a list of what you already have -- when you delete them it resets the list and adds the new effect you just installed.)
I have tried that and it isn't working. I would appreciate any help you may give me.
Thank you..
Karen

did you restart Elements?

Yes I sure did twice. I read somewhere about needing an xml file with the plugins in 6.0 so would that prevent the actions that were useable in 5 to not be usable in 6?

I havent added any to 6 yet because of the issues and I am fussy.
As far as I understand though they go in the same spot as 5 not 3.
They will be usable without the xml file but you have to look in "all". They wont show under their own catagory without the xml file.
Hope this helps.:)

Hi Karen,
Welcome to the Village Forum!
I would suggest you go to Graffi's site (http://www.graficalicus.com/index.php) but in particular this web page (http://www.graficalicus.com/graffishop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=37) and purchase from Graffi his Add-O-Matic for Elements 5/6. It is $9.99 but it is so easy to use. It will also install Layer Styles, Custom Shapes, Plug-ins, Actions and Brushes all precisely where they belong, whether it be version 5 or version 6. Graffi also has several free downloads you can grab, plus he has 20 videos on how to do special things with Elements. Most are from previous versions, but should work the same or similar with version 6.
I have Add-O-Matic and love it!
If you do not want to purchase Add-O-Matic, then in my notes I have this location for PSE6. I do not know if you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista, so here are both locations:
XP for PSE6 – Actions
Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\photo effects
Vista for PSE6 - Actions
Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\photo effects

I second Charles' suggestion. The Add-o-matic is wonderful. I have the version for PSE5. It is a slick little thing that makes life with plugins much easier, and I am sure the PSE6 version works just as well!

Karen,
Glad you got the Add-O-Matic! You will not be disappointed.
Graffi's videos are top-notch! He has a very pleasant voice to listen to, plus he just does a great job of explaining each step.
Another site you will want to visit at some point is PanosFX (http://www.panosfx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=142&Itemid=47)
Panos has in the past posted many threads here, but I have not seen much of him in the recent past. He has several actions for Photoshop Elements. Some he sells, others are free. Make sure you are in the Elements section and not the Photoshop section.
Panos is from Greece.

Panos was around a week or so ago. He said something about being in the final stages of a project at work, hence his absence here.
He was also trying to get his stuff converted to work with 6 and that took up pretty much the rest of his time.:)

Just a quick note; I am quite tired but I am back :)
As for the effects on my site, everything available on the PS Elements section is now compatible with PSE6.
