View Full Version : Shift and resize?

I've always (in PSE 4, and other software programs that handle graphics) held down the SHIFT key when resizing with handles to force a proportional size.
This does not seem to work in PSE 6. Is it supposed to? Or is there a new trick to resize without distorting? (I'm talking about resizing using Free Transform)
Thanks!

Val,
It's an easy trap to fall into (I know, I keep doing it!): Look in the Options bar, there's a checkbox to constrain proportions which, by default, is enabled; holding shift now does the opposite to what it used to.

Thanks for the pointer, David. This has been driving me nuts!

That tripped me up too, when I went from 3 to 5 (I skipped 4, and don't have 6). Sounds like 6 kept it the same as 5.
The thing that really makes me use the brain cells is that in the full version of Photoshop, you still need to hold Shift.
And while we're on the subject, those of you who use both PSE and PS, how often do you go to the top of the layers palette in PS to create a new layer, trash a layer, etc. or, from the other direction, how many go to the bottom of the PSE layer palette to do the same things?
It's sort of like driving a manual transmission car for years, then borrowing your buddy's automatic, and going for the clutch but hitting the brake pedal instead. Or, maybe that's just me...;)

Mike,
Adobe must be testing if we are paying attention...
