I am trying out the PSE 6 and I cannot get an image to save with a transparent background for anything! I open a new file, background set to "transparent", the grey and white checkerboard "workspace" shows up, I make my text and then try to add it as a new layer over another image and there's a stinking grey box surrounding my box. I have tried saving as a .psd file and as a .png file and nothing will make it go away. (I'm trying to make a digital scrapbook page.) what is the deal and how do i fix it?

I've also noticed that it is taking an extreme amount of time to get new layers from one to another and to get anything accomplished. A page that would take me 10 min. max in PSE 2 is now taking 45+ minutes because of the lag time and everything...what's up with that?

If you are trying to drag up from the project bin to the file in the workspace you will get the grey background.

You need to have your embellishment as the current file in the workspace and drag this down to the layout you are working on in the project bin. This will then open the layout file as the current file.
