Install over old version?

I have Photoshop Elements 1.0 installed and have now bought 3.0.
I can't find any advice on whether I need to uninstall 1.0 before I install 3.0.
I may be naive - but can someone help on this please.

You dont need to uninstall version 1 if you don't want to. Version 1,2,3 are all seperate programs and can happily reside in the same building.

Just one word of warning:

If you do install PSE3 and then at some later stage unistall PSE1 it may uninstall Adobe Gamma (PSE2 does!) ... if that happens then you would need to do a re-install of PSE3 in order to get it back.

As Jodi said, most of us have more than one version installed ... it tends to make it easier to answer queries on different versions :)
