Hope someone can help with this
Had a recent crash of sorts [ PC kept auto retarting]
Got over that
[Found some registry corruption]

Now when opening PSE5 Organiser shows OK
I select a photo to edit
Hit Edit
Starts to load Editing workspace
then shows a message
-Unable to connect to Editor Application-
Click OK - Goes to editor without selection
I can the go back to the Organiser and reselect a photo
but only some of them will open in the Editor ...

If there isnt a known solution ....
After a reinstall would I be able to retrieve my catalog including the tags ?
Hoping that tags are embedded within the catalog ?

Brian,

All tags are kept in the catalog. Also collections, version sets stacks, etc.

A reinstall shouldn't affect your catalog - but if you want to be sure take a copy of My Catalog.psa (assuming your catalog has the default name of My Catalog). Or, even better, take a full backup.

Have you tried deleting your Editor preferences file? That fixes various odd behaviours. Of course it may be that whatever happened to the registry is causing this.

Thanks Nick

I just did a remove / reinstall
The catalogue plus tags were right there when I opened up

BUT
The 'Unable to connect to Editor' was still there

Would appreciate any other ideas what might cause this ?

Brian,

Follow Nicks suggestion. The uninstall/reinstall does not delete or reinitiate the preferences file which is stored outside or Program Files.

Start the Adobe Welcome Screen, click on Editor and as soon as you do the click, press and hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt and hold while Editor launches. This will rebuild the Editor Preferences and you should be OK.
