Great... Dane?

Does anyone use Dane-Elec CF cards? Are they any good? I stopped in a new store that just opened here in Flemington NJ called "Ink Spot" & they carry these flash cards as well as Kingston, anyway the price on the 4GB Dane cards was very good compared to the price they charge on Amazon (about $60.00) & this store has them for $39.00. I searched for reviews on these CF's but could not find any. Any info you guys might have would be most helpful:D

Can't really help as I haven't used one but, although they don't make their own flash memory it's not hard to figure out who their supplier is and they are pretty reliable. I have no hesistation about buying cards from legit suppliers like this.

My card is a 2 GB Dane-Elec CF card. I think I have shot about 10000 photos on it. It has just moved into my new Canon EOS 40D where it maybe will shoot further 10000 photos :D

My Nikon D80 came bundled with a bonus 1 G Dane SD card, from Beach Camera. I've had no trouble with the card.

While you may never have a rpoblem with Dane or any other no-name cards, like Tony mentioned, they don;t make their own cards....I find that we end up retrieving images from our participants cards far more often from no-name cards tahn we do with either Lexar or SanDisk.

Personally, my images are too important to risk with inexpensive cards.

Interesting; information from their web site (http://www.dane-elec.fr/us/) and from CNet Reviews (http://reviews.cnet.com/secure-digital/dane-elec-flash-memory/4507-3236_7-30789367.html?tag=sub) would suggest that the company does indeed manufacture their own memory and that their cards are definitely not "no-name cards" either here or in Europe where they originate.

Both Lexar and SanDisk cards very often failure
without recover possibility. Lexar and Sandisk just
return a new card but all photos are lost forever.

Downtown here is 4 shops selling photo equipment.
3 of those 4 shops phone or send me a SMS when they got
a customer with a card failure for my recovery.
So I know what I talk about... :D
I have never seen a problem with that card we discuss...

hmm, that should not be a problem, but I think it would cost about 4 $ to send it with snail mail from US. Besides that I would grab about
40 $ if recovered, and 10 $ if not recovered. :p

One very important thing that will help to keep your memory cards healthy regardless of brand is to format them after each use. You can do it in the camera or in the computer. Personally, I do it in the computer after I have downloaded my images and confirmed that they have transferred.

This cleans up any junk left behind and helps to prevent card failure in the first place.

As you can see, there is no one answer to most of these questions. It's good to read the different input from each of us and make your own decision.
