Since I downloaded the new camera raw, I seem to be using it on every picture I have. Is this "normal", do others "fix" all their shots or am I a really bad photographer?

I think it is perfectly normal to want all your shots to be the best they can be.

My understanding is that there are no in-camera settings applied to your RAW images, the point being that you apply them afterward with the RAW converter; as in film, you are developing the image after it has been taken rather than having the camera do it.
I work on every RAW image, some more than others if they strike me as more worth my time. So no, you are not a bad photographer! :)

I use the film analogy, you take your roll of film to a lab to be processed and they develop it and give you back a set of negatives and your prints. In the case of RAW, you remove the Memory Card (Film), you process it in your RAW converter, giving you digital negatives (files), and then you print. It is giving you control to develop your own digital negatives.;)
