Could someone tell me how to install Custom Shapes in version 6 using Vista and XP.

I found a folder in PSE6 for .csh files and copied the shape file I was given into that folder, but when I started the program they did not appear. This was using Vista.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Custom shapes go in two places - first, in XP, they go here:

<SrcDrv>:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en_US\Photo Creations\shapes

and in Vista they go here:

<SrcDrv>:\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en_US\Photo Creations\shapes

but they need a corresponding .xml file to show up in their own menu in the palette - the .xml must contain a listing of all the shapes in the set, and it gets saved here:

XP:
<SrcDrv>:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en_US\Photo Creations Metadata\shapes

Vista:
<SrcDrv>:\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\en_US\Photo Creations Metadata\shapes

In addition to these two places, they also get saved to

<SrcDrv>:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Presets\Custom Shapes

where they are available both as custom shapes and as cutouts from the main toolbar.

There IS an easier way in my sig -;)

Thank You Graffi for the thorough explaination. I might have to purchase your Add-O-Matic for ver. 6. Can the purchase be made without using pay-pal?

I'm new to this forum and also learning PSE6. It says in the instructions that they need a corresponding .xml file. I don't know what that is or how to go about doing that. Thanks for any help.
