Does anyone know of an Action that is available and working in PSE-6 that will correct Color/Purple Fringing?

I have PFKILLER in PSE-3 that works great, but it doesn't work in PSE-6. I used Graffi's Auto Install, and everything went where it was supposed to. When I tested it, it just kept giving me a message at every step along the way that indicated that particular command was not available. At the end, all I had was a plain white layer?

So does anyone know if Panos or someone has a working Action for this purpose in PSE-6. I would eventually like to take PSE-3 off my system to free up space, but I want to make sure all Actions on PSE-3 will run in PSE-6 first.

If you have a picture I can work on, I'll create an action to see if it works.

Not even sure you need an action - try this method.

Thanks for the feedback Hotstuff and Tony!

I already have all my images cleaned up. I usually do not have the problem, but when I submit my stock images, one or two can be a problem.

I am familiar with the other methods of cleaning up the Purple fringing, but htis action really worked great. It isolated all the problem areas (even the ones I overlooked) in the image, and then took the steps to correct the problem regardless of the colr that was fringing.

Hotstuff - maybe you could download the Action (PFKiller.zip) and open it up on your full Photoshop version to see the commands which may give you an idea. The Action works with PSE 2 through 5. It works with no problem on the full version of Photoshop - guess you simply put it in the Actions folder.

Here is the link - http://www.dream-fusion.com/mkII/pics/pfkiller.zip (http://www.dream-fusion.com/mkII/pics/pfkiller.zip) and the instructions for installing for various versions of PSE 2-5 is - http://www.hiddenelements.com/index.html (http://www.hiddenelements.com/index.html) .

That's odd - I took a look at that action and it wouldn't work in any version of Elements that I know of because it uses Color Range which is only available in Full Photoshop. Is there another version for Elements?

That is the only one that I know of. I have worked with it in PSE-3 for about a year.

Minor glitch - the first step it takes it gives me a message that some command is not available. If I click on "Continue" it goes through the process and seems to do the job. Two images that were rejected for microstock were resubmitted after using pfkiller, and they were then accepted.

As it goes through the process, you can see the changes taking place. The next to last step, I see a black and white image. Then when it finishes, I can see the marching ants over the area that was corrected. So I just hold down the "Control + D" keys to get rid of the ants. Then I flaten the image. Done!

To install it, I just followed the directions on tht site I gave you above. I'll have to keep an eye on that site to see if thy come up with instructions for PSE-6.

Hope that helps!

Like tony said it dose'nt like PSE5, it runs ok on CS3.
I created a couple of actions lastnight that run on elements.
Not as fancy as PF Killer, I'm not a pro and they are my first attempt.
Having said that they work as good on the Images I found on the net.

R.R. if you have an image I could try them on, it would be nice.

The "Color Range" could be substituted with the wand tool.
The "Select Background" would fail if your image is not flatten.

Benny,

Thanks for the tip! I am going to try to apply the wand to select the fringing areas and flatening the image before using the action. If it works, I can close up PSE 3.

Thanks for the help!
