View Full Version : Foreigners an' All

Dear Editor

It just bugs the life out of me when special treatment is given to our members lucky enough to be US residents.

Joining Photoshop Elements Techniques costs $72 outside of the US as against $49 to the locals. Now for that extra cost of $23 what happens? We are penalised by not getting the free issue.

Come on now Dave the world is no longer a place not reachable and Christopher Columbus is dead hundreds of years. By the way, I wrote 3 e-mails on this subject without any reply.

Next you are going to tell us "foreigners" that the Hot Tips book is also only for US residents. I hope this very short sighted policy will die a quick death and that all will realise that we non locals are already paying extra for the privelege of membership and should not be penalised twice.

Good luck with the great new forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you have sent 3 emails and not received a response. I normally see all emails of this kind as soon as they arrive, but this is the first I've heard of this.

We certainly do not give "special treatment" to US residents - or anyone for that matter. When the newsletter was launched, the original plan was only to mail in the US. I convinced the "powers that be" to include other countries, which was done after determining the extra postage necessary to mail to other countries. Unfortunately, we are unable to use the same kind of bulk mailing outside of the US, so the cost is higher.

Please send me your address and I will ensure the premier issue is sent.

I just received the first issue (vol 1 no 1) but the Hot Tips Booklet was not included. Am I understanding right when I think that this booklet is included with the first number paid vol 2 no1? :?
PS Great that tiny idea to make the 3 holes to store it in a binder. :) and thanks for the first free issue.

Hello Dave

Yes, my understanding is the same as michoumisalade's. I was expecting to receive the Hot Tips Booklet too, but maybe it will happen in February. Pity though, I was looking forward to that booklet and I am sure that all of us other "outsiders" are also.

I fully agree that binder holes are a great idea and I hope that a suitable printed binder will be supplied in due course ..... at extra cost.

Please keep up the good work.

Hi Wendy

Thanks for your reply. I am located in WATERFORD, Ireland .... home of Waterford Crystal glass (hope you heard of it). Believe it or not, it snowed here overnight for the first time in over 10 years. Everything grinds to a halt. ...... who needs snow ploughs every ten years?.

Wendy, I am a little confused. The Photoshop Elements magazine received is the premier issue, but, it is marked Volume 1, Number 1. So do I understand that the FIRST issue will be Volume 2, Number 1, or Volume 1, Number 2?

In that case the FIRST issue will be the SECOND issue !!! Of course, I am trying to be a bit funny and I hope you appreciate the humour on this cold January day.

Good luck and keep up the great work.

Hi Wendy

Of course I am being a bit facetious ...... your link from Dave explains it all!!

Thanks again.

Chris,

I meant to type Waterford but my fingers didn't do what I told them to do :) and I actually have some Waterford Glasses ... and beautiful they are too.

The first issue is indeed going to be Volume 2, Number 1 so yes you are perfectly right ... the first issue will indeed be the second issue :) :)

Oh but its all good fun on a wet evening.

Good Morning/Evening Chris

15 years ago I left a company I loved for a new business venture with my husband and the people in my group honored me with a gorgeous Waterford Crystal vase that I treasure.

We had snow here the other day which is only supposed to happen once very 5 years but so far - two years in a row.

Stay warm and safe.

yes that little island certainly gets cold !!! Were you there for that wicked ice storm a few years back ? That was really bad. My mother who lives on the South Shore had quite a bit of problems because of that....and Montreal was worse !!!

Anyways, Yes I'm lookin forward to the tips book as well. Thanks Dave ;)

Yes, I had to leave with my family for 2 weeks during the 13 days blackout:
Some pics I took of this big ice storm:
My street home

and my home behind the trees down. The house seen on the picture is my neighbour, mine seems under the trees:

It was scarry to heard the trees dropped down near my house.

yup, those images look very familiar. My mother also made a small film clip which depicted the whole feeling of it. It was also amazing to see how, once again, catastrophe can bring people closer together. Neighbours helping neighbours was part of the film. Most of the film was cinematography based. Ice can be very nice to film/photograph...despite it's apparent negative behaviour ;)

Michou, I'm glad you had somewhere to go !......here's a link if ya feel like the memories;

Jodi, I'm about to get payback for the nice weather in Houston (where I've been able to ride my bike without even bundling up)....an all-expense-paid trip to Anchorage, Alaska, where the temperature is in single digits, the wind in high double digits, and snow on the way!

Oh, well....

Chuck

p.s. Waterford crystal is awesome!

Living in Australia I also borked at paying out over a $100.00AUD for something you can't see what it is like!

Sorry it's not that I don't trust the good folk here it's just that ..............well

How big is the newsletter?

Can it be made PDF? and then placed somewhere for download, thus cutting postage costs?

I think the site is great but as to value for money I cannot judge.

David.

Chuck, Monday is the big travel day right ? I sure hope you can find a nice warm fireplace up there somewhere.

PS, tip for your trip;
