I'm always amazed at the interpretations given by each photographer. Age and neglect adds so much character to a building. Even if it is not safe to enter it.

There is one house I would have loved to have entered but it's a 20 minute drive away. I have been passing it for years and waiting for the front porch to completely collapse the roof is so sagged. So far though, it seems to stay the way it is. I would be terrified to go in it! There are also lots of old barns in this area to and for some reason I just love the look of them. Maybe one day I should just go out with my camera and take pictures of them all.

I know what you mean Pauline -- I want to take a day and just go about and photograph old barns that have since lost their usefulness. They have so much character to capture.

I don't know why I consider them so charming. I'm sure the farmers that own them don't! I always loved to paint old barns etc. too. Maybe I'll have to start up a new folder! (how many pictures do I need of my Golden Retriever?? )

I hadn't realized just how many old buildings are on my bit of beaten path until I really started looking at them this week. Pauline, I was thinking the same thing about starting a folder for this type of photo (and then actually getting the photos to put in it).
I am so enjoying everyone's posts and galleries. And thank you, Will, for running the Assignments. This is a real motivator.

I was thinking some of these old buildings would make good pattern backgrounds. You just never know. They have that soft, worn, well loved look to them (or at least that's the way I see them) I never find myself the slightest bit attracted to a well maintained painted barn. LOL

Thanks Pauline - it was a fun place to visit - burros roam the streets of this old town and wander in and out of shops. We enjoyed the trip very much!

Oh now that would be a strange site! My son just came home for lunch and said that he saw a racoon sitting in front of a building down the road. Not a site you see often. They don't usually come out in the day time in town.
