I am working on the layout for our Christmas card. It is to be a collage of events of the year. I have a photo to which I have added a Bevel. Now I want to add a Drop Shadow. It is showing up around the lower left corner of the photo. I want to have it around the lower right corner. I have no idea how to change its direction.

Hoping I have explained this clearly enough.

Cheers,
Helen

P.S. It is snowing like crazy here! Has been all day. Certainly puts you in the mood!

Hi, glad you're enjoying the snow!

When you do your drop shadow, and click on that little "sun" thingy to the right on the layer, it'll call up a "style settings' menu. You will see at the top "lighting angle" with a circle and a arrowed line. Move that around and you will see the angle change on your drop shadow. Just remember if you have a bunch of drop shadows on your page, they will all change.

Hope this explains and solves your problem.

Hi there
You dont say in what version you are working.?
but it sounds you are only 1 step away ..
Once you have added your picture to your background, and added your
drop shaddow to it..

now if you open and look in your layers pallet.. you will see a blackish star v5 . or the word fx ver 6 ... simply click this with your left mouse button
and a control window will open.....

you now just need to adjust the lighting angle the size / distance and opacity , and when you are happy click ok ...

hope the info helps

bye :) from Happy-snapper1970 -- Paul

Norma-

It is fair to say that I am "enjoying" the snow right now - but only because I don't have to go out in it! Brian says the roads are getting very slippery. We moved from Manitoba to get away from this sort of precipitation, but we are far enough north that we still see the white stuff way too often for me. :D

Paul-

I realized too late that I should have said that I am on a Mac and thus have PSE 4. But thanks to you both, I found the little "thingie" and switched the shadow to what I wanted.

Cheers from the Great White North!
Helen

Did you know that if you change the direction of the shadow on one layer - it will change the direction on all the other layers shadows?

If you want to have different kinds of shadows - different directions and sizes of shadows on items - you will not be able to do that without simplifying the layer with the first shadow.

If you want to change the direction of another shadow - have it different than the shadow on the other item - right click on your layer and simplify the layer - that makes the shadow a permanent part of the layer and it no longer has a style on it.

Then when you add a shadow to another item - you can change direction to a whole other direction.

Warning - there is no going back once you simplify the layer and "meld" the shadow with the item.
