Hi there first post bit of a novice but I am trying to make a slide show I can add all effects but when I try to add audio it just wont happen, I have added it in to the organiser and still nothing.
It is so frustrating.
When I preview a song in the organiser it starts but then stiops after a few seconds?
It just will not add to the slideshow.
Any advice appreciated.
By the way it is elements 4 I am using.
All songs are mp3 does this matter.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide

This is just a quick question for now....
What happens if you try using the sample music that comes with Photoshop Elements 4? Same problems as with your mp3?
What is the source of these mp3? iTunes????

Hi there thanks for the help, this happens in all of the audio files, even the free ones.
If I click fit slies to audio it then tells me " there is not enough audio in the slideshow"
Yet I have tried everything, the Mp3s are just standard files not particularly from I tunes
Thanks so much

I think that I may have a clue from that message about not enough audio in the slideshow. I could be wrong, but here is an avenue to explore.
First, how many stills do you have on the Timeline and how many minutes do your stills take up? Do you have one continuous audio clip on the Timeline (how many minutes)? If other, please describe number of audio clips and duration (in minutes) for each.
I am thinking that you have far too many stills for the audio clip(s) to cover (even with Fit Audio to Video). If that is the case, you may have to add this audio clip multiple times to the Timeline and adjust with "Fit Audio to Video" when you get close to the audio matching the stills.
Something like that happened to me recently on a long slideshow. Let me know if that works for you or whether we have to go to another plan.

Hi there thanks again for the help, but I cant even add audio, the timeline. If I play a sample in the "add audio from organizer" it cuts out, and still asks me to press stop even though there is no music playing
I have tried everything yet there is no music adding to the slideshow whatsoever, even the free ones i.e: Sunny_Afternoons.mp3.
But why wont it work as it says in the help file??
Thanks for the perserverance as I say I am pretty much a novice.
Total Slideshow time = 04:48

Forgive me for asking this question so far into this thread, but it just hit me...by any chance are your working with Photoshop Elements 4 or Premiere Elements 4?????
Since you did not post your question in the Premiere Elements Forum here, I just assumed it was Photoshop Elements 4.

That is how I have been answering, thinking Photoshop Elements 4. So, I am on the right program, although I do not have an answer yet for your immediate issue. I will be back later today with some more ideas.

Sorry, got detoured so many times.
What is happening for your reinstall? Did you uninstall via Control Panel/Add and Remove? Make sure you select Remove rather than Repair.
Have you tried to set up another user account using the same privileges as the other one in which you are having these audio slideshow problems in Photoshop Elements?
I have tried all sorts of variations to replicate this problem. All were unsuccessful. I came back to ask another question when I saw your post today. My question was this:
If you right click on the audio file (maybe pick a typical one giving these problems), select Properties/Summary, what does it say for:
Origin Protected YES or NO
Audio Duration X:XX:XX
Bit Rate
Audio sample size
Channels
Audio sample rate
I have a few more things to check out, so I will be back.

Take a look at the following Adobe TechNote and see if there is anything in it that works for you:
“Can’t import MP3 to slideshow in Photoshop Elements (3.0 – 5.0 in Windows)”
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=332125&sliceId=1

If the link in the last post does not show promise, the program uninstall/reinstall should be top of the to do list. So, let us focus on doing that if nothing else worked.
If there is a problem doing so, please detail, and we will try to work through that.

My latest thought is this….
I am assuming that you have been dealing with only mp3 either as Photoshop Elements 4 sample music or iTunes purchased music.
Do you have any music in the wav format that you can try?

Just wanted to say thanks very much, I reinstalled that didn't solve the problem, but when I converted a song to the "wav" format it worked. Don't understand why Mp3 won't work but so what it will do as is.
Thanks again :)

Thanks for the feedback.
I have not been able to come up with firm explanation(s) for those mp3 issues, so I was very pleased that the workaround worked.
When I get some time, I will continue my hunt for some documentation on mp3 and Photoshop Element 4 and will be sure to post what I find.
