hi all,

can anyone help me with removal of the date from a photo? the date shows up in the grass so it's not an important piece to the pic but i don't want to crop it. any suggestions? layers? masks? ugh! i would really appreciate a basic step-by-step or a link to a tutorial.

thx,

frustrated with this 'simple' task

Hi,
Perhaps, the Clone Stamp will help.
See flash movie on this tool here:

use the rectangular selection tool. Make a selection box the same size as the date just above or below it. Add a 2 or 3 pix feather to the selection. Click on the move tool hold down the alt key to make a copy of the area then move the selected area over the date and hit enter then ctrl D to deselect

You could also use the spot healing brush (icon looks like a bandaid) If you right click on the icon you see 2 choices. The healing brush which is used much like the clone stamp or the spot healing which does the matching for you. You just click on it and it disappears. Its really good for dust or water spots if shooting in the rain etc. Probably better on a more solid background, but one that you can play around with. Its probably my most used tool now.
