Grants Tools for Elements 4

Hi I am d/l Grants tools for Elements 4
It says -Abbreviated Tool & Alignement Tools
I notice in both lots that there a bunch of tools LayersMasks etc but there is also a PSD file. Should I put the PSD in the Effects as well ?
They are in a File ( after extracting from the Zip ) should I move the whole File in one go , or should I open that file & put the Tools into Effects one at a time ?

Just copy them all to right place (both the .atn and .psd files). The PSD file will give you the images in the pallet.

Trish .I have got them into my Effects Pallet but Grants Tools only has 4 Color Channels and Mask Layers & Transformate Selection.that is 6 total
The Alignment Tools only have 4 in there. How come ? I am Elements 4. On his site he shows the Folder Tree & it has heaps more Curves & every thing.
It did say on his page under Elements 4 Abbreviated Tools .
Can you Trish or someone please clarify this for me ,lots of you have Elements 4 I am sure :)

Hey Mavis, good for you getting Grant's tools installed from the instructions. First time I did it with 3 I was totally confused! :)

I don't have Version 4 but I have 10 and 12 tools in the Tools Display for Versions 3 & 5. Doesn't mean anything as it could have been totally different in 4. If you installed all there was in the download file ....

Did you have Elements turned off when you installed the files? How many files do you see in the Effects Folder you installed them in?

Hopefully someone with Elements 4 will be along soon to tell you exactly what tools they have in the Effects Pallette after installation.

Hi Pat-after writing the last post I read Grants disclosure & he says Elements 4 Adobe for some reason will not allow all the actions so 4 only has an abbreviated list. Think its a beta also. I have in my Effects Palette in Elements 4 same ones showing that are in his file that is for his Grant's Tools . His Alignement tools there is 6 in the File but only 4 are showing in the Effects Palette.
I have Elements 3 on my PC ,got it when I got my Wacom. I try to use 3 but am not familiar with it ,because I started on 4 .
I suppose I could d/l Grants Tools for Elements 3 , if I get stuck I can always ask you because you are a 3 expert :D
I will not upgrade I was thinking of it but anything different that is just more for me to remember. Elements 6 I would have real trouble seeing that grey on Black.
New problem now is that I deleted the Effects Cache & also the Filters cache . The Effects Cache has built itself back up but the Filters Cache has not built itself back up. The folder is empty . Elements was not on when I d/l & I have started Elements up again-no Filters cache.
What should I do about the Filters cache ?
We got bit of Snow yesterday its still, here but we do not get that nice Sunshine after snow. Its yucky stuff :D

Hi Storm

E4 tools are the only ones that will work with E4.

Adobe closed the loopholes in 4 that allowed some of the other tools to work.

To be honest the ones I use most are the layer mask and transform selection.

Hi Gary -yes I know that E4 tools will only work with E4.
I have E3 on here also so was just thinking out loud whether I should d/l E3 Tools for Elements 3.
Perhaps you could tell me what should I do because Elements did not build up the Filters cache ? The file is empty.

Geez Mavis, you've got me there.

I have limited experience with the cache but it would seem to suggest that there are no filter files, but where would they have gone?

As a first step can you look in the filters file on your C-Drive and see if the filter files are actually there in the Filter Folder?

Could you have deleted the wrong folder by mistake?

Anyone have any ideas?

Honestly I think I am going nuts . They were NOT there before supper . This PC got a rest while I was making & eating supper its weird .Gremlins I suppose.

The cache takes a little while to rebuild so you have to wait a while :)

Not sure why people have problems installing my tools but ..... I have updated my site and added a Install.mov (http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/Tools/Downloads/Install.mov) to help you you visualize what is going on. Click on it and be enlightened.
