Plus sign in layers

What does it mean when I have got a layer with a + sign at the bottom of it?

Where are you seeing the + sign ??

You have a "frame" layer. A frame holds a full resolution reference to the object, so you can zoom and resize without messing with the pixels.

Thanks for replies. The sign is just to the bottom of one of the layers and I don't know what I did to get it. In fact I have seen it a few times. When I get another I will try to remember just what I did.
