I'm Alison...nice to 'meet' you all.

I've had Elements 5 on my computer for nine months, and have played with it here and there. It's just been tough to find the time because I had a new baby. He's big enough now(a year in Oct :D) that I can start putting some effort into learning more about how to use it. Just browsing through the forums I've learned a ton.

I'm not a total newbie to this stuff. I've got a good grasp of the basics, and how some of the more advanced stuff works. Most of my 'experience' was in PSP, so I've been having fun learning Elements.

If anyone has suggestions on stuff to teach a nine year old, I'd appreciate it. I'd really like to get her started. She opens pictures and plays with the filters, so she's got a basic idea of how the program works.

Welcome to the forum. I can't answer your question, but there are many in this forum that will help.

Hi Allison! Good to have you here. Has your daughter tried Filter>Distort>Liquify? I know my kids like to play with that one endlessly to alter their pictures or their siblings. She might be able to do some of the Creative Homeworks with your help. Check this link (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24604&highlight=creative+homework) and have a look at Week 6, 8, & 16. I think my daughter played with all of those. Have fun...

Hi Alison and welcome,

This is a warm and friendly forum. It's a great place to ask (and answer) questions about PSE.

I can just see Adobe's new slogan now:
Photoshop Elements... so easy even a 9-year-old can do it! :D

LOL!! Yeah, she loves Liquify. The other day she was having great fun giving her brother's pic a big butt and chicken legs. Then she was using one of the buttons in there(don't know which one, she knows that filter much better than I do) to make him do a booty dance!

I checked out those tuts and they're perfect! Thanks!
