When I try to feather my images with a colored background, it doesn't show. If I take the exact same steps but use a white background, everthing works fine. Can someone explain why this is happening and how I can get the feathering to work with colored backgrounds as well?
Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you can outline the steps and tools that you are using, and what layers you have and their order; or if you are following a specific tutorial someone should be able help.

For example:
- I remove an object from it's picture
- I drag and drop the selected object into another image
- With the object still selected, I select the feathering option which performs the action but doesn't show a visual difference.
What am I doing wrong and thank you for your assistance!

If by "feathering option" you mean clicking the menu Select > Feather... then you are feathering the selection. You have to do something with the feathered selection in order to see it in your image.
For instance, after feathering, invert the selection (Select > Inverse) and tap the Delete key to leave behind the core of your original selection with now-feathered edges.

Or feather it before you move it...

Yes, it worked! It's funny because I've been trying to figure that out for almost a month now on my own. Thank you very much for your help (both of you)!
