From the North Carolina Zoo.

There was a man taking pictures of the lions while I was with a very fancy camera setup. He had his camera on a tripod with one of those foot long white lenses. Along with a bag and vest with gear.

My wife and I walked away and I said, "Now that is a nice setup." Without missing a beat she said, "You have lens envy don't you?" This is coming from a woman with very little interest in photography. I just looked at her and said, "Yes."

Now, Joe, it's not all about size (of the lens)....it's the quality of the shot, and I think you got it!;)

Very nice!

I think you did a great job with the camera you have. The lens does not always make the picture - it's the know how to use what's in your hands. I've seen plenty of people who have the top of the line equipment and still can't get a decent shot because they don't know how to use it.

That's lovely - a nice 'soft' look:)

Sela, Nancy, and Elwoodsusanm, thank you for the comments and encouragement.

I used much of what I learned in the layers class and reading this site in making the "after" picture. I think I'm getting hooked on this photography hobby you all love so much.

Nice job Joe! The soft effect gives it a touch of magic!

Thank you very much Smiles.

I used several different effects on the entire photo. But for the lions you are seeing a slight Unsharp Mask, slight Hue Adjustment, and Diffuse Glow with the opacity of the glow at about 78%.

Thanks, Joe, for sharing your technique. I am going to try to apply this to some doggie pictures that I want to give as a Christmas gift. I believe this will be a nice effect on the pups!

Glad you are enjoying all of this "creating" stuff!

I'm a dog lover also Sela.

I can't wait to see your pictures. :)
