Hello. I found my way here from Scrapper's Guide, so as you can guess, my purpose in buying PSE5 was to us it in digital scrapbooking. I'm also interested in using it for making digi-greeting cards. Although the learning curve has been challenging to me, I love this program, and see that it will keep me learning new things for years.

After browsing the sight for awile, I've already got a question:

I was intrigued by a technique and tutorial someone refered to as "raising an image from the background." I used that phrase in a search, and got a message I didn't really understand, but no luck in finding the tut. Can someone direct me to it?

Thanks so much. I look forward to spending some more time lurking/browsing.

Hi Shar

Welcome to the village.:)

Are you referring to the recent thread started by...ooops I forgot.
The beautiful sunset over the river?

If so the technique is fairly simple.

Let us know. If I am wrong, point us to the photo in the gallery or wherever you saw it, and we will get you on track.:)

Shar,

HERE (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=146477&postcount=19) is a post where Russ explained how to do it.

Hi Shar ...

"Raising an image from the backgound" is a tutorial of mine that was moved into the subscriber area quite a while ago ..

The method that Russ mentions is very similar :)

That's the one! A couple of others have also responded, including Wendy, the tutor, so I will follow up with them.

Thanks, and thanks too, for the welcome.

This may seem like a dumb question, but where is the "subscriber area?"

Hi Shar

Not a dumb question.

This forum is a newly revived/revised forum of another site that is still running until early next year.
The subscriber area is on that site, but because it is closing is not taking new subscriptions.

Hope this helps clarify.:)

...which is why I posted Russ's version of Wendy's tutorial, as I knew you wouldn't be able to access it.

If you try the tutorial and have any questions, ask away & someone will be able to help out.

Okay. That makes sense. I did read about the site that is closing. Looks like Russ's version will work for me. For the next 1.5 weeks, I'm away from my own computer, so won't be able to try it until I get home. Thanks for all your help.
