The insrtuctional "How To' videos in Elements Techniques are a wealth of information.
Is there any way these can be purchased or is there a program that can be used to save them onto your computer.
Thanks JIm

Are you talking about the videos in the subscriber section? These can be saved by locating them in your temp files folder (I'm assuming you're on a PC) and copying them to your HD. I've nearly saved all of them now....

Wendy,
Well I had about eighty of them saved but then when they announced the imminent demise of the site I decided to save 'em all! You just never know when they'll come in handy:)

Hi Bayla
Yes, I am talking about the video's in the subscriber section. You said to go to the temp files folder. Where is that located? And then you said copy them to my HD. What is a HD?
Please let the rays of enlightmenment shine thru.
Ahhhhh - a second question - I have high speed dsl. When we had the old forum everything came up very quickly. With this new forum IF things come up at all it is so slow it leaves snail tracks. Any suggestions.

It could be something in how your requests are being routed, but for me the pages are loading even more quickly. Sort of humorous considering the old server was located about 2 miles from my place in Tampa and the new one is in northern Michigan.

HD is your hard drive

check out the link above. I think it's still on the front page.
Basically, you need to play the video, then go to your temp files where it is stored, from there you can move it to a more permanent location on your computer. If you want to save to a cd or dvd, it gets a little more complicated. The videos are in Quicktime.mov, which is not compatable with windows. So you have to convert it to a mpeg file. You need a program for that. I'm still trying out different ones using their 'free' version. The full versions range from 29.00 to 39.00. Once converted, you need another program. And some duck tape to keep your head from exploding all over your keyboard. Nero is one of the best programs for movie making. I was able to get a test movie saved converted and stored on a dvd tonight. It actually palyed in my dvd player! Now if I could remember the hundred steps it took, I just need to do it about a hundred more times, but first I need to purchase more duct tape.
Good luck!

I am still wandering in a fog trying to find these temp files whee the video's hide out. I did a search and found 3 different temp folders/files and there were no vidoe's in them. When the video is playing a right mouse click will tell you that if you install Apple for Windows Quick Time 7 Pro tht you can save the videos. When I called Apple and ask then the answer was a very large "Nope"
I do have Nero and find it excellent. But I still need to be taken by then hand and gently be lead, step by slow step, to the dark and lonely pplace where thee videos are lurking. Then I can pounce on then and save them

The videos are in Quicktime.mov, which is not compatable with windows.
Since when?
To find the videos in your temp files. First of all you need to watch them. Then go to the toolbar at the very top of this page & go to Tools>Internet Options>Browsing History Settings>View Files. All your temporary files should come up. I have mine arranged by Type, that way I can scroll down & quickly locate the Quicktime ones. Then I right-click on it & choose copy and then save it to a folder on my HD. It also helps if you delete the temporary files before watching the video - it makes it easier to find the file!

EDIT: I just got Jon's link to work (see my post on that thread) & it's an even better way to save them!

Ok I have been to see browsing history and nothing shows up. I'm running Vista and went to internet options/browsing history/view and I don't see any videos to save. Any thought on what I'm doing wrong?
I have quicktime pro and have saved only a few videos since I lost all and now they don't save with the QT logo it's almost like the file isn't recognized and...............this has always done this. I save a video as QT mov and then bring up another to save after it loads and QT and Internet Explorer stop working and shut down. I have asked on the apple forum and no one responded so I don't know what to do. I can save again but only hours later or after I reboot the entire machine???

Jen,
Have you tried saving as per Jon's thread mentioned by Diana in post #9 in this thread? It's much easier, saves you having to run the video and then find the file...

I went to the top of this pages tool bar. I saw nothing that said 'TOOLS" etc. But at this moment it does not matter. yesterday I could view videos. Today all I have is a green screen, no video but audio is OK. I
I was going to send you a photo of my tool bar but I can't figure out how to do it. About all that is left that can go wrong is my camera takes a giant dump and I won't need any of this information.

But have you tried instead saving the way Jon suggested? It's much, much easier. Firstly you need to go to the www.photoshopelementsuser.com (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com) & sign on to the Subscriber Area, and then click on THIS LINK (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/subscriber/video_download.php) which will take you a whole page of all the video titles. Just right-click on any title and choose 'save target as' and then save to a folder on your HD.
