Hi guys,
We've noticed that there are quite a few threads throughout the forum about digital photography and equipment. Would you be served by adding a subcategory under Learn More dedicated to this subject? Let us know your thoughts.

I think that would be a great idea! I see lots of threads about lenses, printers, monitors, etc. That could all fall into one topic and make it easier for individuals new to the digital photography genre to find. Thanks for the suggestion! Hopefully, all will agree.:D

Possibly dedicate a sub forum to...
Color Management
Plug-ins & Filters
Organizer
EditorThese are the big ones that I can see, but I'm sure you could add more if you want to break things down even further.

How about a Freebie folder - or is that already here somewhere that I can't find?

First thing's first. For now, we're really just trying to assess if there would be an interest in the digital photography subforum. We don't want to have so many subforums that the home page becomes cluttered again.
We also have to be careful that our taxonomy system doesn't start tripping over itself, i.e. We don't want people to have to wonder, Hmm ... Does this question I have about the Organizer fall under the Advanced or Organizer subforum? :)
But if the interest in this topic is strong enough, we'd be more than happy to provide a place for you budding photographers to hang your hat.
Annie
PS Nancy, how did you know that earning my "wings" and being promoted to a real, bona fide forum genie was my true motivation in offering this? :)

Annie,
A subforum about Digital Photography would be an excellent addition to a forum devoted to photo editing software :D Great idea!

Just wondering......would this be about just technical stuff to do with cameras and equipment?
You see, I am also wondering if it could be a place where one could post images (before any enhancement) and ask for opinions on how to improve on the initial shot????
Just a thought

OK, check it out. Just go to the category "Take Better Pictures" on the home page. You'll find a special surprise under the Digital Cameras and Equipment subforum.

Thanks Annie,
My first love and real interest in PSE is photography. I love learning about ways to improve my craft. I trust that I will be able to contribute just a modicum of knowledge gain in over 50 years of making images. The only problem is that it is taking longer and longer to read EV every day:D. By the way EV also stands for Exposure Value!
Cheers,
Bob

Annie, going back to the original announcement and how this Phoenix has certainly risen above the ashes, do you have anyone "hidden away in your goodie locker" who can take our questions or help us out in the world of Giclee, home printing and Publishing. Laurie is a fantastic addition to the forum and I look forward to hearing her thoughts on taking better photos and equipment choices.
I am thrilled that I made the decision to stick with the "Phoenix".

Hi Robert!
Funny ... The first time I saw your pic I thought, "Huh – he looks like a photographer." Don't ask me why since I've never thought before about what a photographer "looks" like. Sometimes I fear the more I post here, the more credibility I'll lose. :)
Anyway, please feel free to contribute to the digital photography subforum all you want! I'm sure you'll be a valuable resource there. I look forward to learning a lot from that area of the forum. I'm sure it will be one thick and chewy cookie!

Hi Anne,
I love what you have done with this site. It is already, far better than the original PET forum. You said: "Funny ... The first time I saw your pic I thought, "Huh – he looks like a photographer." Don't ask me why since I've never thought before about what a photographer "looks" like. Sometimes I fear the more I post here, the more credibility I'll lose. :)"
The picture in the avatar was taken in Japan in 2004 by my good wife Pat. I would love to see your work. Once you get two minutes of rest from site building you should put up a gallery. The secret to taking great pictures is to take lots of pictures. That reminds me, I need to move all of my gallery images from PET to EV. If I get a few minutes in the coming weeks, I will post the classroom slides from my Digital Photography course on my website along with the Photoshop Elements slides that are there already.
Cheers,
Bob

I would be interested in a digital photography subforum.
I started out learning PSE and then got interested in taking better pix as well as working with them in PSE. I bought a Nikon D80 and have been spending a lot of time at another forum where digital photgraphy, lenses, techniques, etc are discussed. To have all of that along with PSE info would be nice.
