First of all, I absolutely love these training session - hope to keep seeing more of them!

My question: the red-eye removal tool works beautifully and I've never had to use any other techniques ... for humans. But when you take a picture of a cat, the flash reflects off the back of their eyes and turns their pupils an iridescent green. Needless to say, red-eye removal has no effect on these photos. Aside from the alternative techniques offered in lesson 8 (which I've used with only marginal success), does anyone have suggestions for removing "green-eye"?

Hi there ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Jodi posted some instructions, the other day, on how to do this ...here us a link to the thread:

I tend to use a couple of methods to correct this ... one is:

For red/green eye try:

Select the red/green area plus a few pixels ... feather a little.
Enhance>colour>hue & sat> ... select red/green from the edit box and reduce saturation to zero or thereabouts
Enhance>Brightness & contrast>levels .. move the left hand marker in about a third of the way and move the centre marker over to the right until the area goes dark ... not too far or it will look artificial.

Another way is much simpler ... I have some images of my Cat where the eyes are fine so I use the eyes from those images and blend them into the problem ones.

Hope this helps :)

Wonderful! Worked like a charm!

Charlie is now fixed (not sure he's happy about it):

Hi ...

You made a really good job of those eyes ... which method did you eventually use?

I selected the entire pupil, feathered it (1 px), filled it with black and put in a couple of white dots. I originally tried just painting the green parts with black and leaving the pinpoints, but it didn't look quite right.

Thanks for the feedback!
