I would like to suggest a new forum topic header..It could be titled:
HOW-To and TIPS:
It would not be tutorials but more of instructions & great tips anyone came across that would be very helpful.
Examples:
How to set up your gallery (Put detail of how to do it)
How to get a picture in a thread.
How to put a link word in a sentence such as :Check out THIS picture.
Tips would be anything someone came up with or found that makes it easier or shortcuts to do something. All this would be in one place. I have seen in threads people asking some of the same questions at different times especially if they didn't see the first thread that a question was asked.
Just a suggestion that would make it easier to find answers that are repetitive.
Thanks

Great idea, Christell. Are there any any other forum-related tasks people would want to know how to do? Perhaps we could compile a list and put all of these tutorials (of sorts) in one place.
Does anyone know of threads where some of these questions have been answered? I could copy/paste together something.

There is one in Member Tutorials here:

It could be moved to the other section, if one is provided.

Is this all people want to know? If so, it'll be a pretty short post. Now's the time to speak up if there's something you're just dying to learn how to do here on the forums. :)

There are pictures in the gallery that I would like to know the "how To's" on. How they did what they did. We have lots and lots of talent here and I want to learn.

When you see one you would like info on, copy the link and paste it into a new new post in the subscriber gallery thread. People are quick to share and will generally give you all the info you need on how something is done.

How about a 'How to bring your downloads into Elements'? Here's one forum link, there's probably a lot more. http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13905&highlight=adding+downloads

Christell,
I think it is a great idea. I would like to see 2 new forum topics:
How to Use this Forum
and
FAQs and Tips for Photoshop Elements.
My preference would be that they were read only, each post ending with a statement: If you have questions start a thread in the __forum with the subject ___. My reason for read only is so the topics wouldn't get diluted with duplicates and questions.
So, in theory, a member would propose a post for one these topics, others might chime in with additions or clarifications, and if it seemed like a good fit a moderator would post the final version.
Even if it is too much work for moderators to have locked forums, I still like the idea of those topics.

How about posting a topic regarding what camera's everyone is useing to get the beautiful pictures they are taking? Not only am I uneducated in photo shop elements but I am also camera illiterate too. I have a Canon A710IS and I'm wanting sooooo badly to buy a Canon Rebel but not sure if it's worth the money. The post are always so helpful and they really do teach people like me.

the keystrokes to manually create the frown smiley are : ( back to back with no space. When you typed the colon after example and then immediately followed it with the bracket it just got confused. :) (which, by the way, the keystrokes for are : ) )

I think some good FAQ documents might be:
1. How to install layer styles in PSE 6 (and PSE 5) (both windows XP, Vista, and then Mac when it comes out for them too).
2. How to install actions in PSE 6 (and 5) (again, different paths for XP vs. Vista and Mac)
3. How to reset preferences - both using the ctrl-alt-shift (and whatever the Mac keystrokes are) and where to find the .prf file to manually delete it if you can't get the ctrl-alt-shift down.
These are all common questions/needs that people may ask.
