Online Classes For PSE4?

Hello. I was going to take advantage of the on-line classes here as the subscriber area has been a great help and figured the classes would be even better. I guess my first question is what is the differences between the tutorials/videos and the classes. And secondly, will the classes be revised for PSE4? I just picked it up and I think this would be great to get going on it.

I don't think that you will have any problem at all with the classes as the two versions are so very similar ... so my opinion would be that it is still worth taking them.

I asked that question as well a week or two ago, because I wanted to sign up for the class. I was assured that the classes would be fine for PSE3, which is great because I'm a Mac user (so no 4 for me...). And they are-haven't run into a thing that I can't do in 3.

The classes are different from the tuts, because first, there are 21+ of them, but they talk a lot about concepts and about why and how what you are doing is affecting your photo. I guess what I'm trying to say, not very well though :lol:, is that the classes are great for building an understanding of the program, rather than trying out one or another technique at a time. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the tuts-they're a blast to do. But for a higher level of understanding I like the classes.

As a newbie here, are the classes being discussed on this forum the ones made available when you subscribe to the newsletter?

Seriously thinking I'd like to do some structured learning and I do like the idea of understanding why I'm doing what I'm doing. From the looks of things people seem very satisfied with them.

Hi Pat,

No... the online training is a different set of courses. When you subscribe you get access to the video tutorials in the Subscriber Area. New videos are added frequently (usually weekly) and there are currently over 60...

There are three online courses, each comprising of 21 lessons and costing $19.99 each (under a $ per lesson).

The online training is structured... for example, in Dave Cross' course you learn things one day that are also used or developed more in later lessons.

I think I'll subscribe and take advantage of the tutorials and look at one of the tutorials for some structure. Great!

Mike's right, I took my first online class before subscribing-kind of pushed me to the decision to subscribe, because it all makes you want more, more, more!! :lol:

I hope you do subscribe-it's one of the best $50 bucks that I ever spent. It'll expand your knowledge and understanding immensly, but more important it's jus a blast. :wink:

Thanks Carol, It's great to know the subscription is worthwhile so decision made!

I made an error in my last post, I'm also going to take one of the other classes offered as well, the photography workflow looks like a good place to start.

I've been kind of learning on my own but I need to expand on the basics so I'll subscribe and do the videos to get started.


And you're right, after finding this forum I'm hungry hungry and want to do it all !!

Starting off with the Photography workflow class is a good place to start ... I did it earlier this year and it is brilliant.
