Some threads in this forum have vanished. Others have view counts that seem unlikely given their recency (e.g., 15,000+). How stable is the system?

Hi Bob,

I haven't noticed that myself. However, a lot of things are changing around here and some quirks are inevitable.

I'd suggest that you post your question in this thread. (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31251)

Jon has been quick in his replies to any query posed to him there about the new forum.

Hi Bob ...

The view count will have carried forward from the previous forum ... would that apply to the threads you are talking about.

... also which threads have vanished ... any idea ??

Wendy :)

Wendy, click on Find all Posts by Wendy, then click Last. It appears it only goes back to October 2007, unless the dates are wrong. Same with mine.

Edit: After viewing a few people's posts, it appears only link to the last 500 posts.

Everything should be correct, but if you have any specific examples please PM them to me. View counts can be higher than you'd think if the post somehow got ranked highly in a search engine or got linked on a large site.

The search engine is limited to 500 results, which is fairly standard. Even Google won't let you go all that far in their results (it may say 1-10 of 1,000,000 but you won't get close to 1,000,000 if you want to see what's at the end). If you want to see those old posts just use advanced search and limit it by date.

I'm pretty sure the old forum didn't go very far back either unless you did an expanded search. All the threads are here but are archived from a certain point back. You can find ALL threads by clicking on Archive in the bottom right corner of the forum. It will bring up a menu of all sections then click on the section and you will find a complete list going back to the beginning.
Edit - I see Jon answered while I was typing.
