Thanks Nancy, my family might object to me making a long visit away from home over the holiday period but I'm sooooo tempted :D:)
Wendy, the tut looks so easy to follow, I'll have to give it a try. I won't ask DH for any input though or there will be Irish Coffee's in each section

Oh what a menu! I'm a dreadful cook, it's more likely to be a sausage on the barbeque at my house for Christmas.
..............and Nancy, I even managed to ruin the scallops last night!

Oh no Robyn! I was having dreams of grilled scallops wrapped in bacon all night. Well - they tasted great in my dream!:D

I didn't know how to spell vinagarette, either, but DO love sole! I was a proof reader in my working life. The one time I went on vacation and had proofed all the articles in a Senior's flyer, I came back and found that the printer had inserted phone numbers in the footnotes. The number was one that would steam you up when you thought you were getting a tip on your health! Well, maybe seniors needed that number, who knows?

It would smell fantastic but cleaning up the melted wax would be horribly. I really could just unplug it! It is funny everytime I open the oven door it does smell wonderful! and it never has to be cleaned!!!

I've noticed that no one wants to come to my house for dinner. :(
Could it be that I don't cook, I'd be more than happy to have you all here for Wine, hor dourves (store bought, of course) and Cocktails, then I could make a reservation at a fabulous restaurant. That's what I'm good at!! Cooking just ain't my thing!

Jancy, you've reminded me of a wedding shower that was held for my daughter. We were all instructed to bring a recipe and provided a cute little card to write it on. I knew my girl wasn't going to cook so I filled the card with the names and phone numbers of restaurants, carry-out joints and pizza places in the city where she and her husband were going to live!

Wendy, I love the menu idea! I'll have to take a shot at it once dinner plans are finalized for Thanksgiving next week!
Dinner here should be a planning fiasco:
One daughter and her boyfriend are vegetarians.
One daughter eats seafood but no other meat.
One daughter prefers that her son eat organic food.
My sister is a poultry farmer and will expect one of their turkeys on the table.
My husband is immune suppressed due to chemotherapy and on a nutrapenic diet.
I think I'll go to Jancy's house and relax with cocktails before going OUT to dinner instead of cooking for all of these picky palates!

I know I'm always banging on about being a lousy cook............and I am...........but I CAN make a wicked Aussie pavlova! It's my 'signature' :rolleyes:dish.........sadly my only one! Do you know what a pavlova is in your part of the world?

I'll bring Carmel topped pumpkin cheesecake. It travels pretty well.:p
Robyn your pavlova sounds interesting, tell us about it.
Robyn
November 15th, 2007, 12:25 AM
Pavlova is just a giant meringue really. Egg whites whipped up with sugar into a 'mountainous' meringue and cooked in a very low temp oven for quite some time and topped with lots of whipped cream and various fruit of one's choice. I like passionfruit/raspberries/strawberries on it best. I made one once that had peppermint flavoured whipped cream and topped with heaps of grated chocolate/chocolate curls and decorated with chocolate coated after-dinner mints........that was fairly wicked!!!

Meringues are not my strong point :(

We'll go to Andie's place in Arizona for Thanksgiving, lounge around her pool until closer to Christmas and then move the party to Robyn's home in Australia for scallops and dessert.
I'll bring the sunscreen because we certainly won't be using it here in the Midwest for the next few months!
