I am about to order a new Mac (switching from PC after all these years) and they all ship with Leopard installed. My printer also just died (right after I replaced 3 of the ink cartridges of course) and so I've decided to get a more expensive one, the Epson Stylus r1800 - BUT - I'm afraid of getting it home only to find that it won't work either with the Intel Mac - I've read horror stories - because it's an Intel Mac, or with Leopard - because it's a new O/S.

So I was wondering if anyone reading this happens to have this particular printer/Intel Mac/Leopard configuration up and running?

Hope so!

Thanks, Nicole

Hi Nicole

Here is a link to an Epson support page for Mac Leopard (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportLeopard.jsp). This may help.

BTW, I have an R800 Epson (baby brother to the R1800) and I love it. I know you are going to love your new Mac

mmqc2, if you hurry you can still get a iMac with Tiger installed and a $10.00 upgrade for Leopard from MacMacMall.
They offer a $50.00 rebate on the iMac and a free printer either Epson or HP. I chose the Epson which has separate ink cartgrides and is a all-in-one printer. Print, Fax, Scan.

Nicole, I own an R1800 and it is just great, colors have pop, and the pleasant suprise has been the Black an White capabilities. Straight out of the box utilizing Epson Ultra Premium or Premium Glossy, either one will work, utilizing Epson's Premium ICC profiles, and you will need to download the latest from Epson's site, produces very acceptable results and has saved me a bunch of ink on my R2400, which is now set up for fine art and matte finish paper.

If you are going to use third party paper, I would strongly recommend obtaining custom ICC profiles for the paper ink combinations you might use. While the results that I experienced from Red River Paper and Moab Paper downloading their applicable ICC profiles worked with satisfaction, the colors I found somewhat muted on the yellow and green side, once I got custom profiles for applicable papers, those colors were true and vibrant. Either way, it is a win - win printer.

Hi Nicole

I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard. My main printer is a Canon, but I also use my all in one Epson RX620 occasionally. I have had absolutely no problems with either since I upgraded.

Frank, I have been using Inkjet Art for the last year or so, since I have had my R1800. They are moderately priced for their service, but I cannot complain. I use to use DryCreek Photo, but they have not accepted new accounts in quite some time as they have been so overwhelmed by the Box Stores i.e. Costco to profile their systems. At one point I had been waiting nearly 3 weeks when I finally got ahold of someone there to respond. Since then I have given Inkjet Art my business. Try http://www.inkjetart.com/profiles/profiles.html. There are others out there, some more expensive, some less. But for consistency, I recommend these folks.
