I want to know if you crack open a 35 mm film canister will you get the same negitives that you get if you were to get them devolped and get negitives at walgreens or walmart... if not what do you need to get the kind of negitives that you get when you get film devolped at walgreens or walmart. Is there special equipment needed or do you just need a black light...

Thomas ...

If you crack open an undeveloped 35 mm film canister in the light then all you will get is a lot of black .... :(

Developing them yourself is sort of complicated process but I have done it for B&W film ... now that was a good number of years ago so it may be easier nowadays. Here is a link to some information:

Yea but I would be doing it in a very very dark place with no lights in it... my closet is a perfect place for it its got no cracks.. so its completely dark.

Then you need chemicals, the right temperature a timer, etc.

I did the same as Wendy and did some b/w years ago (25?) more to try it than anythng else. It wasn't hard but we were told then that colour was way harder.

Color is definitely harder because you have 3 colors to bring into developement -- black and white has one with many tones. I did some slides 30 some years ago and they have since faded but still got a picture on them.
