Thanks Jancy for a beautiful image. I am looking forward to working on it tomorrow (have visitors staying over until then)
With all that has transpired over the last week I was so relieved to see the challenge was still posted. I think it is the first step to 'getting back' to what we are all here for - having fun and extending our knowledge. thanks

Hi all,
I was looking at the pictures and think they are all pretty awesome! I'm wondering though, how did Aussie Nan keep the duck and change the background to black & white??? Guess that one was my favorite.
I'm going to give it a try despite the housework that is calling my name! haha.

Hello Eleanor,
Glad you like my slant on it, and so nice to be asked how I did something, I am always doing all the asking:)
After making any adjustments to lighting colour etc that I wanted I just duplicated the layer. I then turned the duplicated layer into black and white (I did it the easy way, Enhance/ convert to black and white) and used the eraser to bring back the colour of the duck.
See how you go, and just ask if you have any problems.

Toni,
I love your cube. How did you do it and is it hard? All I know how to do is the basic edit / crop. Thanks

Hi Marilyn
The cube is a free download from Panos. It's a bit of a cheats way of doing things :) but I liked it, and sometimes easy is good! You can actually purchase one as well that allows you to have 3 different images on the one cube. Here is the link

Hi Toni,
Thanks! That made it so easy! I would have separated the duck on its own layer using extractor or selection but that was so much easier. A little tough on the foot and leg since it was so narrow and was a little concerned about erasing too much, but, what they hey-nothing ventured, nothing gained. Sure appreciated your help.

Your're welcome Eleanor. There is another way.......using a layer mask....and then painting back in the duck. This gives you a lot more freedom to make mistakes. (I use layer mask if the image is imortant to me.) If you're not familiar with using a mask I will try and hunt up an easy tut for you. Just let me know.

Toni,
Thanks for the link! I can't wait to get home to play. My only concern is the installation. This will be my first, not sure I understand what all is to be done. I maybe writing back if I get stuck. Will let you know how it goes.

Everones crops are fantastic. I, myself, need to try another especially with the little lonely ducks!

Hi Toni,
I'm not sure about the masking-if you have a link to a tutorial I would gladly accept it. I have SO very much to learn.
Thanks,
Eleanor
