Has anyone gone to this show? It's Oct 14-16 in Mississauga, ont.

www.henrys.com/show

I just wonder if it would be worth it for me to do the drive and check it out. I obviously don't need a new camera since I just got one.

Just go ! I only wish things like this would come to my area. I've been in a bad mood for over a year...I need enlightenment.

Jodi, I wish we lived closer. We could have fun. I've been feeling a bit on the crabby side myself!!! This show is about 1.5 hour trek away. I think my biggest fear will be spending money that I don't have to spend. Looking again though I see there are free lessons. It sounds like it would be a good learning experience!!

Now it's back out to read the info I printed on photography! It's an unheard of 28 degrees here, and my house is hot and stuffy. I just refuse to turn on the air in October!!

Pauline, we are getting the same weather...unseasonably warm AND I'm not complaining...we still have no heating fuel. I'll take this weather for as long as it lasts ! ...Which appears to be 2 more days and then rain friday and cold and cloudy Saturday :( ...if I believe the weather dude. Ya, just go ! Then tell me all about it when ya get back :)

  I might be forced to listen to you Jodi. I was sitting outside reading about shutter speed, aperature, etc. I 'sort of' understand, but then of course when I turn on the camera I stare dumbfounded at the numbers. Like everything I know that it takes time, and I will try and look at the settings from the camera when I down load the pictures so that they start looking familiar. I also have told myself that I will do the lessons that I printed out. I don't think I did this much learning all through highschool!

Our weather predictions are the same as yours, and I am not complaining. I do prefer a little cooler and less humid than the past 2 days though, but don't remember wearing shorts too often in October, and hearing about snow coming out West near the end of the month, makes me appreciate our good weather that much more. Not ready for snow yet...........just a few months of fall is fine with me thank you!

If its the one I think, I went last year.

It was ok. I went looking for camera stuff, all I picked up was a cd "Digital Darkroom" put out by Henrys.

I did not attend any of the seminars so I can't comment on that end of it.

Basically it is/was a promo for Henrys. They had quite a few manufacturers there as well as some distributors, lots of gear to look at, but you still had to buy it from Henrys.. they had an onsite counter set up.

I'll check the link out some more..I think it was just started last year so it might be better this year.

Yes it is being done by Henry's and what I was worried about was that it would be one big promo. If the classes were worth it, it would be worth the drive, but from what I saw in their store, they don't even carry the Kodak cameras. Not sure if it would be worth the drive.

Sorry I can't help with the seminars

I had a free pass last year, and it's just under half an hour away for me, so it was no biggie. I probably spent less than 2 hours shopping there and I really stretched it out.

thanks Gary. Because it is sponsored by Henry's I was worried that it was nothing more than glorified advertising and I really have no plans on purchasing anything else. My camera will take a couple different lenses, but it would be ridiculous to even bother until I am fully comfortable with it the way it is. I'll have to think hard on this one, but I have a feelling my time and gas money would be better spent just doing research and playing with the camera on my own.

Yes but wouldn't it be better to go and just see for you self and if you think it stinks then dont go again, It's worth a shot.. and if you don't like it atleast you know whats going to be there and maybe you can go to compare prices   (if you know what I mean)

Yes, Thomas, I know what you mean, but it's an 1.5 hr drive across the city into Toronto. There is not only the gas expense but I would take the toll highway as it's less congested so an extra $10+ for that too. I'm starting to think that a better investment would be a photography book.

I went a couple of years ago in Ottawa, and went to a couple of seminars - nothing really exciting. One was an outrageous promo for a device that would guarantee wysiwyg colour on a Windows system - for a very high price!

Spend your money on this web-site. the tutorials and training sessions aill keep you going for a while - and just play around - it's surprising what you come up with.

Thanks Richard. That's kind of what I figured it would be like. With gas, admission and the toll charge, it would cost me about $40, and that's a bit steep to go to a promo type affair.

 Wendy, I have told myself that I must work my way through my Painter IX book first. Also I never did finish the Gregory George one (I kind of found his boring for some reason.) So those MUST be done first!!
I need to practice some control here.
