A similar method can be used with Safari on a Mac. Open the tutorial you're interested in, go to FILE > SAVE AS and direct your computer to a location for saving.
The files are saved as "archive" files and can be viewed offline simply using the Safari browser. All text and images are included. You can decide which to print later, if that is your wish.

Mac users ...
Just switch to Camino
Then all you do is Control Click on the page and choose the option Save Page As ... it then saves the whole page for you.
It saves everything that is on the page ... :)

Is there any way to save the Video's?

November 8th, 2007, 12:36 AM
These are the instructions Gary K gave some time ago:
after viewing the video completely
using IE6...go to
Tools>Internet Options
General Tab>Settings>View Files
It should be there with a .mov extension
However, when I tried it this evening it didn't work. I've done it before so I don't know why it isn't working now. Anyone have any ideas?

Dales and Sarah, Read posts #4 (for Firefox) and post #11 (for IE) in this thread (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28567&highlight=Save+Videos)
One thing I am not sure is mentioned. For Windows you must be sure Hidden Files are made visible. To do this, click on My Computer, at the top click on Tools, click on Folder Options...
Click on the VIEW tab on top, then make sure hidden files is checked as shown here:
(Sarah, this may be your problem!)

You could grab them in your Internet Cache.
I have more than 200 video's grabbed in 1,993,756,929 byte.
In other words, I have all of them.
Thats about 2 GB, and it toke very lots time to grab all those
I maybe would become problems if I put them for download.
hmm, since I now see that this forum would close, I maybe allowed to
put them on a DVD with a stamp on from my local postoffice ?
Maybe some others had grabbed things that later would be useful to share ?

Hi Benny ...
As all the things have copyright then you can download them and use them for yourself but you can't pass them on to others ...

I was thinking about if they would still be copyrighted after the shop is dead -- Maybe we could have an accept from the previous shop if they don't wan't to sell them anymore ... :o

Hi Benny ...
Even when the site closes they (or the writers of the tutorials) will still hold the copyright ...

I had the same problem, it came out as lots of little pictures, so I just print to an adobe pdf printer and save the file in pdf. Of course eveything on the page is there but since I am not actual printing it doesn't matter.

Ginger,
How do you save the written tuts in PDF form?

Charles
I go to file, I have Vista but also did on XP, select print, change printer to a pdf printer. The printer is nonexistent but it writes the file to that and I save. Not a great explanation but I have done for years when I want to save to PDF.
I just change the name to that of the tutorial.
Sorry I am not good at explaining this.

You may have to have Adobe Acrobat installed for this to work, I am not sure.

I don't see adobe PDF printer listed. I have Microsoft XPS document writer. It does save it in my file folder with text & pictures but opens up in Internet explorer. I have adobe acrobat but does not show up in printer area. Can't figure out how to save it in folder without it having it open from IE.
Any suggestions

I have Adobe Reader, but not Adobe Acrobat. When I go to printer I have Quicken PDF Printer (I don't know how to use this). When I select this to save a tut, and APPLY it, I do not see anything happening. I also do not have a chance to give it a filename. From that I am thinking I would need Adobe Acrobat, but there is no way I can afford that program.
I have all the tuts saved now as *.mht files. I am hoping after this site closes down, I will still be able to view them with the pictures.

Charles,
Don't have Quicken PDF thing, but gave another one, they all tend to work the same.
If properly installed, you should see the Quicken PDF creator as a selectable printer from whatever program you are trying to create the PDF from.
Just select Print, then look for the printer drop down list. Most of these creators give you an option of where to put it and what to call it.
You should also see the printer if you click on Start, Settings, Printers and Faxes (Widows XP)
Should Work.

The instructions I posted to start this thread were to save the text tutorials (not Video) in the Subscriber Area using Vista and IE 7. I also posted another thread to save the video tutorials using Vista and IE 7.
Not many people have Vista yet so I thought it might help some people but it was not intended for users with other more popular computer configurations.
People with other OS's (Mac, Windows XP etc) will probably really appreciate a thread started specifically for each one. Right now those other instructions are getting buried. Anyone up to doing a set of instructions for the other ones? :)

John,
Here is what I see when I click on File/Print in IE7
1600
When I click on Quicken PDF Printer and then click on APPLY I see nothing happening, and I am not able to save the file as a PDF. As I said earlier, I am wondering if I need Acrobat to be able to do that. I use Quicken to track my finances, and I am guessing this self-installed when I installed Quicken. Do you know of any other free PDF program I could install?
Maybe I don't need to install anything at all as I already have the tuts saved with the *.mht extension.... or will they not work once the site is down?
Mary,
From the experience I have with computers, the instructions you gave (I think) should also work with Windows XP.

I am not very computer literate. I am probably doing it the long way around by copy and pasting it to a word document.

If you do not have Adobe Acrobat, you can download a free program call cutePDF Writer 2.7. We use that one on our laptop which does the same thing.
Quicken PDF does not seem to work only in Quicken.
Once the program is installed do the following:
Go to the turorial and open
Copy the title
select print - you will then have a cutePDF printer -select
you will get the option to pick where you want it saved and can paste your title in. Then select save and you have it.
Hope this helps everyone- once it is installed it is a very simple process for any of the text tutorials not video. Also works on any other file such as word or excel or anything you want to save as a PDF. Just load the free pdf reader from adobe.

I have all the tuts saved now as *.mht files. I am hoping after this site closes down, I will still be able to view them with the pictures.Charles,
I've found in the past that .mht files don't always recreate entire pages with images, despite what it says "on the tin".
If I'm saving a page I particularly need intact, I close IE, disconnect from the internet, then try and reload the .mht file. If it works, it gives me confidence that I've got a complete archive of the page.
If it doesn't work, I try saving the .mht again, which sometimes fixes it, or if not, try and capture the missing info some other way.
Hope that helps,
Nick

I found this morning that Microsoft Word will open *.mht files, and they look good. I do not open them all as I don't have time as I am also saving Wendy's Mini Tuts this morning to Word.

Charles,
Have you tried clicking the Print thing, after selecting the Quicken PDF Printer option. Clicking on Apply just does that ans saves the settings. Clicking on pront initiates the pront to PDF (on my system). It is like you have to select the printer (Quicken PFD Printer) and then click Print to actually do it.
As far as I know, Adobe Acrobat (the full thing) works the same way.

Is there any way to save the Video's?
I saved them by purchasing the upgrade for Quicktime (Quicktime Pro). I think it costs $30. Its a fast download. Works great. By advised that some of the older videos don't work well, and several appear to have lost their osoundtracks.

The videos that have "lost" their soundtrack can be played in full using VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/). This is available for both Mac and PC. :)

I posted a message yesterday earlier in this section but did not get a reply that was helpful.
I followed the directions given by Mary at the beginning of this thread but cannot save the subscriber tutorial. I get a blank document with the name of the tutorial but nothing else.
Is there something missing or am I missing something. I am using XP rather than Vista-could that be the problem.
I am wishing to copy some of the tutorials, not the videos.
