They remind me of a duck that crashed into our windshield one day near Natchez Trace, Tennessee, totaling the windshield as well as the duck. It was Saturday and we had to get towed about 50 miles to a place that was open. Interesting weekend.

Muscovy Duck, heavily hybridized. Here's an article that may shed some light:

It looks like a duck that had a pheasant for a grandma and a goose for a grandpa. It's mom must have been the ugly duckling.

These "ducks" are in a public park lake where I live. They always stay together, never socializing with the other ducks and geese. Strange for sure! Thanks for the article.

This really made me laugh. Yes, they are ugly ducklings, quite unique.

Quillabee, to say the least, I would image that was a surprise, not only to you, but to the duck also.

I would say something like, "I'll bet that duck didn't have the guts to do it a second time...."
but then I really wouldn't say that, would I?;)

There is a whole big story about synchronistic timing and place of that duck encounter of a close kind. Other things materialized as a result, but absolutely for sure: neither we nor the duck ducked. Ouch.
