Hi Folks! I hope I am making this post right......it's my first time. If I am not, or have it in the wrong place, forgive me and please point me in the right direction!;) I Have a photo I want to put into an oval with a gradiant to the edge. How would I go about that in PSE6? Also is there a diffuser filter and if not is there somewhere that I can download more filters etc?
Thanks for your help and I hope to be spending time here.....maybe I will learn enough to help someone else sometime! :p

Hi Sheila and welcome to the forum. What you're going to find out really quickly is that there are numerous ways to accomplish any task in PSE.
If I understand what you want to do I'd go about it this way:
1. Open your image
2. Create a second layer and apply a gradient of choice.
3. Apply a mask to the gradiant layer (Downloaded from Grant's tools)
4. Return to the initial image and select the part of the image that will be in the oval. (use the ellipse selection tool - with a 10 to 50 pixel feather)
5. With the selection still made, return to the gradient's mask and fill with black to allow the underlying layer to show through.
I'm sure there will be another member along shortly with other ideas too. Just play around until you find one that gives you the kind of look you had in mind.

Hi here comes my take on it.
1. Load the pic. :)
2. Create a new empty layer.
3. Make an elliptic selection.
4. Feather the selection. The range depends on how wide you want the gradient and how high resolution your picture is. But try with 20-40 pixels.
5. Invert the selection with shift-ctrl-I.
6. Make sure you have the color you want your gradient to be selected as foreground color and hit alt-backspace.
That is assuming you want the result to be something like this.
