After adding photos to my Organizer, I moved them to an external hard drive. I didn't move them from within Elements (my bad) and am now trying to Reconnect them. Some Reconnect fine, other seem to only until the next time I use the application. Is the Rconnect a permanent thing or just for that session? Any help would be appreciated.

Reconnect should be permanent, but if you are doing anything to the photos outside of PSE that involves moving or re-saving, they will disconnect again. In order for Organizer to keep track of them properly, everything you do to your photos needs to be done within PSE.

Hi Gene: Thanks for the post. Here is the odd thing...I reconnect them, then the next time I login, they are no longer connected. I'm not touching them in the meantime. Do you thinking having them on an external hard drive has any bearing?

Are you leaving the EHD running all the time, or turning it on and off? In particular, is it off at any time when you have PSE running? If that is the case, you may be losing Organizer connectivity when the drive is off and the Organizer is open.

Very likely -
The external drive is probably being assigned different drive letters by Windows at different times - even booting Windows can do this. In v5 and earlier, the Organizer catalog uses the Windows drive letter when identifying where the photo file is.
I don't use an external drive much any more (except for backup) because I added an additional internal hard drive. I do know that the solution is to make the external hard drive have the same Windows drive letter each time - but I am not sure how to do that permanently.
So hopefully someone else will post instructions on how to set the drive letter for the external hard drive permanently.

Yes, there are times when I do not have EHD running - just the Organizer. I will try opening them both and reconnecting, to see if that helps. Thanks again for your words of wisdom!
