After creating a slide show and setting the preferences to burn, and then hitting the ok button it opens a small window saying "writing wmv file" which takes quite a while. After waiting for this to complete nothing happens. The file does not burn onto the disc.. Any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thx all.
Steve.

Hi Steve,
First off, can you burn files to CD or DVD outside of PSE?
I haven't been able to recreate your problem. The only thing I can think of is a workaround. Create the slideshow WMV file and save it to disk instead of burning it. Then, assuming you can burn files outside of PSE, burn that WMV file to disk. Its a two step process but should get you going. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by "quite a while"? I have burnt some test VCDs using slide shows containing only 4 to 5 pictures. It takes a long time as PE3 goes through two processes - firstly creating the wmv file and then burning the CD. If you use an existing wmv file the process will be a lot quicker.
Try this - create a show and save it to disk as a wmv file. Then open it as an existing slide show and burn the CD.
Post back how you get on.

I don''t know if this is the same problem, but I burned a CD, going through what sounds like the same steps, and there is no wmv file on the thing. I can't find any way to play or view the material that I burned onto the CD.
This thing burned using software I think was called "Sonic Creations"? I have a bunch of vcd files on the CD, but can't figure out how to do anything with them.
I also can't find any useful information in the help screens from Adobe!

I'm having problems with slideshows, too. I wonder why PSE3 is using an old format like VCD? We should be able to burn to a DVD and run the show on any DVD player.
My system locks up when I select "burn to Video CD". I have to create in WMV format, only viewable on a computer through Windows Media Player.
I'm wondering if we are treading into Adobe Premier's territory?
:( :( :(

PS - after having searched through the forum for slideshow problems,
I'm not sure I even WANT to burn a SS in such a dead format. I guess Adobe really wants us to cough up for Adobe Premier!

If you buy Elements premiere, the install activates pe3 to be able to burn to DVD with menus.

Another thing about burning vcd's in E3 is that you have to put the disc in first before clicking the ' burn to VCD' button. Otherwise it gets confused.

I just burned a gorgeous DVD using Sonic's MyDVD, a program which came with a video capture device I bought last year to convert old VHS tapes to DVD. There is no compression and the shots look stunning on our Sony 36" CRT type TV. The DVD plays in our three year old Sony DVD player flawlessly! Bet they'd look even better on a progressive scan DVD player and HD TV.
It is complete with an audio track and a cross-fade transition between slides.
This is probably similar to what Premiere would do. I hate to spend another $90USD for a program whose main function is to make videos just to make slide shows. I don't own a camcorder of any kind. I'm a still photo guy, that's why I'm on this forum!!
I hope Adobe puts a good quality DVD burning option in it's next version of PSE3. Meanwhile, I will continue to use the Sonic MYDVD program.
