Hi Tami,
This is a great topic and I expect to be both a consumer and contributor. One thing I am not sure of is where you draw the line about someone else's work. Not that I really expect that you can, but a few more hints would help. I was taken to task over one of my early postings that some long time forum members thought was too close to an existing tut.
Very few of us really invent something new. For example, my silk-screen effect sailboat was developed after reading the serigraph article in PET vol. 4 number 3. Now, my selection methods and paint bucket fills were a departure from the printed article, but I would be kidding myself and you if I said I came up with this technique all by myself.
Can you "flesh-out" how you would differentiate plagiarism from original work in this much needed topic?
Thanks,
Bob

Tami, thanks for the category. This will be much easier than a single thread.

Tami, thanks so much! This will make it so much easier. I'm always having trouble finding someone's tut! We appreciate it!

Bob, Simple enough...
Don't copy a tutorial out of say Fred Smiths book on color correcting....
Now if you have tried fred's color correcting but found that it really worked much better if you added a hue/saturation adjustment to the color balance and then dropped the oppacity to 10% and clicked your ruby slippers together twice while walking your dog then I'd say it's orginal enough to say based on a tutorial I read in Fred's book:)......
But no word for word copying of tutorials that you have read or seen:)
Most everything is based on something and that's fine but copying pasting a tutorial that you saw somewhere else it not acceptable.
Hopefully that clears things up and btw if you do have a tutorial that requires you to click your ruby slippers together while walking your dog I would like to see it as I have red shoes, walk my dogs alot and am always looking for new ways to fix bad shots:twisted:

Hi Tami,
Thanks for the clarification. Those are easy guidelines to follow. There should be no grief in that area. And, thanks again for the for the new topic.
Cheers,

Thanks for the new topic. It will be so useful when trying to find what tut you are looking for. I know I have hunted through the forums for many hours looking for stuff I read. This will be great. Now all of our creative people can share thier hard work with all those of us who are just a wee bit PSE challeneged.

Tami - Thanks so much for setting this up. It will make life much easier, especially for us "newbies" and those who have been using PSE for awhile. :D

Thanks very much for setting this up, Tami,
It's excellent to provide a place for these. So many times someone will ask something like, "What's this 'Westimom Sketch' people are talking about?" Then it's search, search to try to find a thread to refer him to.
May I humbly suggest that, after anybody post a thread in this forum section with a technique tutorial, we don't jump in filling up the thread with a bunch of "thank you for posting this", and etc. Do that in another thread. Let's keep the tutorials here pretty "clean".

Thanks for this section. I think it will be great to be able to find tuts in an easy way. And I agree with Rusty and others that it would be good to keep this clean - with only tuts and any updates or additions.
Forum member tuts usually come with other stuff - 'I loved your image, how did you do it' or 'i loved your tut, here is my example'. Putting all that on a different thread makes a lot of sense in terms of keeping the 'tut' section clean. But it would be helpful if we could get a sticky on this thread about the best/easiest way for this thread to reference the other and vis versa. I know some folks do that all the time, but some of us aren't sure the best way to do it. And - at the risk of using too much server space - it might even make sense to put a copy of the actual tut into the supporting thread so that it might be easier to ask questions, etc.
thanks again for setting up a specific tut section. that will make things a lot easier.

Great section, and I totally agree with Rusty. We should have two different sections, one for comments and one for tutorials.

Okay, I'm new here but I do not see any tutorials. Where are they?
Thanks

Hi Denise ..
If you look at the threads in this section you will see some tutorials .. but an easy way is to look at the index links and use the links in that:
