I just purchased a 24" intel Imac and what to use elements on it. Has anyone used it this way? I get different answers to this question on the Adobe site as to if it will work on the intel Imac.
Thank you,
Randy

Elements 4 for Mac will work. Windows programs will work if you 1) have Bootcamp and boot into Windows or install Parallels. With either, you'll need a version of Windows. I use an Imac at work and have Parallels installed. In Parallels, I can choose to run Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 98 and Windows 2000 [I do internet tech support, and it's nice to be able to actually see what the people on the other end are seeing]. I have PSE 5 installed on the Imac, and it works great. Hope this helps. You're going to love your Imac!

Hi Randy ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
I have the windows version of PSE5 and PSE6 running in Parallels .. but must admit that I by far prefer using the Mac side with PSE4.
... Good news is that a new version of PSE6 for the Mac is expected early next year :)

PS .... If you have a Windows version of Elements and want to switch it for a Mac version then just contact Adobe and they will help you with it. Last I heard they would do a platform switch for just a few dollars :)

On a slight tangent to this thread: I believe we are seeing an update to PSE on the Mac because previous versions (amongst other Adobe products) will not work properly under Leopard.

While I'm not using Leopard myself, a great many people have told me that PE 4 is actaully faster in Leopard than in Tiger. I'm not so sure about how well PE 2 will work, though. Some people are okay but I've heard some people are having problems with PS 7, which is the base code for PE 2.

I haven't tried it myself; that screenshot is from an official Adobe document (adobe.com/support/products/pdfs/leopardsupport.pdf) so they must have had reports of problems. Still, if it's prompted a new release, who are we to complain?

Ummm ...
Now that throws my update plans into confusion ???

Well, I think it's just Adobe saying "don't call us" if you do have a problem. I've personally heard from 11 people using PE 4 in Leopard with no trouble, FWIW, and not from anyone who can't get it to work.

So far, so good for me. I have upgraded to Leopard on Friday morning (got it early from Apple !!) and preliminary tests I did on PSE4 show that PSE4 can open a file, save, apply filters, create layers. Plugins, that might be a different story. But I have none for PSE4, so that wasn't a problem for me.

I had a few minutes between two periods of hockey (Canadiens won 4 to 3 over Pittsburgh.. yeah !!!), so I had a look at the forums, considering Leopard was just out, I figured maybe a few people had questions or observations.
CS2 works on my G5. I haven't tested everything extensively, though. I didn't test Illustrator. Bridge worked fine on several occasions. Canon's ImageBrowser did too.
Other software which required an upgrade was Roxio Toast 7. I had to jump to 8. Side note : I googled on the web before proceeding with the checkout, found coupon codes for Roxio products (some generic, some general savings), managed to save 10% right of the bat.. cool !!! :) Coupon code : ANNIVERSARY, saves you 10%.
FileMaker Pro 8 works, but only if I change the localization of my Mac to US English. Irritating, but an OK workaround for now.
I also had to upgrade Google Earth, but all is well now. This app is soooo cool! For anyone who's never toyed with it, give it a few minutes. You'll be addicted.
The others apps I have all working fine so far (no extensive testing done, though) : CorelDraw 11, Bryce 6, Carrara 6, Word, Excel, Unison, Transmit, Painter X, LaunchBar, VisualHub, etc..
And this morning, I'm giving Time Machine a go. My disk usage are such that Time Machine can't let me backup up all my disk (it's 200GB full out of 232GB, it would leave little room on a 232 External HDD for incremental backup). So, I isolated my home folder, and kicked TM on earlier this morning. You might say TM is no good because it can't back up all the hard drive. It's more my disk which is near full (it only has 30 GB left, out of 232). And, logically, I will not back up my applications because I can restore them in a blink of an eye with the original disks. Ditto for the system folders, etc. Really, Home folder is fine for me. That's what I had with Apple's .Mac backup tool.
There's a new Print dialog, which saves one trip to the Page / Setup dialog box (which is gone in many apps !!) Have a look :

That's about it for now... see you all later (maybe!)

I've been waiting for Leopard's release before I update my G4 PPC Mac to one of the new Intel 2Core Macs. Right now I am using PSE3. Does anyone know if this will run on Leopard?
Thanks!

A couple of people have told me does, but I don't know how thoroughly they've tested it.

I just got off the phone with Adobe. Called to find out about getting my windows elements switched for a mac version. And they did it!!!!! Cost was only $6.48 for shipping. Should have it in 7-10 days.
To kool....

I received my Family copy of Leopard on Friday morning and in a sort time had it installed on three machines. The first machine took the longest because I elected to check the integrate of the disk it came on. Longest install was about 2 hours shortest was about 45 minutes.
Everything we had on three machines worked flawlessly well almost everything. Mail on all three computers seem so have irreproducible bugs although they are minor. I was prompted to update a few products like Aperture and at least two third party ones but all went smoothly.
There are so many good things about 10.5 I don't know where to start.
There are two disappointments. It seem to have lost Sherlock a little program that I really liked. The other thing is, contrary to Apples first hints, Time Machine will not work off of Airport, an external hard drive has to be directly connected to you computer. I was use one HUGE drive to back up all three computers.
All in all I do like the new operating system. It was a treat to have Leopard up and running in a very short time. The previous OS that I upgrades required almost a week to get each computer back to normal.
