File Open in Editor-how to change default?

When I open a new image in Editor, the program always defaults to "Thumbnails" (File>Open>View Menu>Thumbnail). I want the default to be List.
I have gone back into My computer and setting it up there so that all programs would do that, but PSE5 doesn't recognize the setting.
How can I change the file open default to List?

If your images are in My Pictures, the Open default will show thumbnails. Other folders default to List. It is a Windows thing.

well thank you Juergen. I never knew that about My Pictures and thumbnails, but it makes some kind of perverse sense from the programming mind. Ha. I will try renaming the folder and see if that works. Otherwise, I'm stuck with a Windows quirk (again!).
