That's terrific Sherry. A great picture.
Isn't it kind of sad how thrilled we are to have a picture we took featured yet receive no money for it?

When a picture I took was picked to appear in The Idiot Guide for Golden Retrievers, everyone said, "how much are they paying you?" I was happy to receive a free book and the honour of having one of my pictures chosen.

Hi Sherri - your success makes us all feel good - when something good happens to a friend, the glow lights our world too. :)

Congratulations, Sherry!
Pauline-it's the love of the game...I think the accomplishment of having a photo chosen becomes the pay...I'm sure it just makes you feel so great. I've been branching out in my teaching this year-I was asked to teach a graduate course (I've always taught at the elementary level), and the first question out of DH was "how much are they paying you?" Truth is, I never asked, I was so thrilled to have been asked to do it! Like I said, for some of us it's the love of the game  [/i]

That is sooooo great.. you are now a world renowned Jazz Photographer.
Right now you have people from at least 3 countries that have heard of you, and I'm sure more will come along as the day progresses.

Definitely know what you mean about publishing for the thrill and not the financial reward... I contributed to a technical text years ago and was quoted in the preface as a contributor. My stock went up at work and it paid off there despite the lack of financial gain from the publisher... One of my photos made it into a gymnastics magazine and it was a double whammy: my photo and it was my daughter. That one just ticked off all the other gym moms. Why wasn't my girl picked... Duh, take a picture and send it in!

Congrats! Great image. I think it's better than the others in the article...

Yes Carol. Money isn't everything. It's the joy of doing. When my daughter was trying to figure out what she wanted to do in life (and at 16 she still doesn't know), the advice I gave was find something you love! The money doesn't matter. You can make a fortune but if you hate going to work every day then what's the point? You just never know where something you did for sheer pleasure will lead to something good or a financial payoff.

When I see Shilo's picture that I took on the front cover of the Dogs, Dogs, Dogs, newspaper I will feel honoured that it was picked and everyone can see how beautiful he is. It gives me bragging rights. You just never know what road it will lead down.

Sherry,

My congrates also. It's always nice to be recognized. And between you and me I would have taken His picture even if didn't have a Sax in his hand. Handsome Dude.

All kidding aside, it was a Great Photo and that's why they published it.

Thank you to all of you for the support, it means a lot to me because I am awed by your works of art & photos. I makes me want to do better in all my photo things.

I'll get some real copies of the issue when I go to the concert tomorrow. So far I have had 2 covers on this magazine, some centerfolds (not like you think) & bunches of small pics.
So someday maybe.......$$$$$
Right now it's fun & an ego boost :D
