I would like to lessen the number of images in PE5 by downloading them to a DVD. Then when I want that "collection" I could slip the DVD into the reader and do whatever. Is there a way I can do that short of creating a slide show, sending that to the DVD and then deleting the images?
Thanks, Raleigh

If you mean in the Organizer, use File>Copy/Move offline.

Hi Raleigh, Welcome to the forum.
Basically what happens is that when you download a image to your computer it is stored on your hard drive. When you open up PSE-5 or any version for that matter ..what happens is that PSE will remember where that link is and show you a thumb nail of that image in your Organizer. PSE creats a catalog of where all your photos are on your hard drive. So all your photos are stored on your HD. Most of us will do exactly what you said and burn them to a CD, DVD or external Dard Drive but for the primary purpose of backing up that file. In that way in case of a Hard drive crash we have a back up photo readily available. If you are lacking space on your hard drive then by all means you could delete these file from your computer but for insurances purposes I would have back ups on two different DVD's in case one gets corrupted. I use Roxio Easy Media Creator as the soft ware that creats the burnded disc. It is very easy just a drag and drop sort of thing.

As Eddie said a lot of people backup onto CD/DVD using windows or some other program.
Just dragging them over though will not give the organizer the chance to know where they are.
Using the move command as Reka suggested keeps the Organizer in tact. If you don't use the organizer then move tham as you like.
