If Scott Kelby has a book Photoshop Elements 6.0 for the Digital Photographer, I'd get it. His books are fantastic for learning the basics and more on anything Adobe.

Have you checked out the video tutorials in the Learning Center of this web site.
Also, go to the Subscriber Section of this web site and click on the Photoshop Killer Tips icon to the top right. Download the podcast episode on Photoshop Elements 6.
In either case, you do not have to be a subscriber to view these video tutorials or the podcast.
Also, do not overlook the PDF Help that I think is included on the installation disc??

Apparently it is not on the CD in PSE 6. See this Adobe techdoc for confirmation and a link for downloading it.

Thanks for the update. I was not sure. That is why the "??"
Do you know if there is a User Guide in the boxed version of Photoshop Elements 6 that is being sold in the retail stores?
User Guide = PDF Help link cited?? Or, two different species?

ATR,
All the posts that I have seen say no printed book in their PSE 6 retail box.
The techdoc says "User Guide PDF" so I don't know what else you are expecting. In fact, I have seen comments that this time (v6) the User Guide PDF is more complete than the Help that shipped with the program.
EDIT - adding more information because I discovered that there is now a new Adobe forum FAQ that is relevant at

I just checked it out. If you want to print it out you are looking @ 454 pages.

dales,
I think that most people use the Table of Contents or the Search function of the Adobe Reader on the PDF file to find the topic of interest and then either view that specific topic on their monitor or print just that topic.

The trend for on-line manuals is really annoying. I am terribly uncomfortable reading manuals on the computer screen I still like the printed page in front of me - especially when I'm working on a difficult technique.
But, this is the way of the world - so I end up buying books that cover the subject. All the books mentioned here are excellent. I would abandon the "help" section and buy a book. Whenever I've tried a search through the help section to solve a problem - I've gotten frustrated - although I have run into other info that has been illuminating while perusing "help." ;)

Janice ...
I'm 100% with you on this ... I like a real book not an online one :)

In the "User Guide PDF" you can print 2 or more pages on one sheet of paper. If your printer, prints on both sides (using 24lb weight paper) you can cut that 454 pages in half or less. Might need a magnifying glass.
