Hi Everyone. I started making the cube and I was able to get one picture in, but then when I loaded my second picture, I could not drag it onto the cube layer. I could not get both pictures/layers on the same screen. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Janis,
A lot of people seem to have problems with this ... you need to be able to see both on the screen at the same time.
If you still can't manage it then then try this instead:
Open the image you want to add and do Select>All the Edit>Copy
Open the image you want to add it to and do Edit>Paste
Then should work OK :)

Thank you Wendy. I'll give it a try. I was so happy I got one picture in the cube, and this hopefully will do the trick for 2 more pictures.

I have noticed that there are a lot of photos using the Cube technique. Was there a tutorial on doing a Cube? Have I missed something. I don't know the first thing about doing a Cube. Can someone direct me where to get this information.
Thanks in advance, Dorrie

Dorrie - it is in Scott's Book -- Down & Dirty Tricks, pp 224. It is a lot of fun to work with. I'm planning on doing one for a person at work who has 3 children which will fit the cube nicely.

Thanks Will, I will just have to wait until my book arrives. I ordered it from amazon, so it should be on it's way soon. Then I can play too.

You'll have quite a delightful experience once you get the hang of the cube.

Great cube. I really like the idea of the names around it.

I finally got around to trying out the cube technique. I posted it in my gallery if anyone is interested. Of course, the subject matter is still my kids? :)

Oh yah, I think I spent half the time trying to get the edges matched
I'm not sure if it was the background or not, but if they didn't match I got a blue edge. It took a lot of zooming and rechecking. Funny thing is, I didn't really notice, until I did a save for web.

On the first cube I did the edges didn't match up and makes the cube look like it coming apart -- so I was very impressed with your results.
You mentioned a blue line -- I'll have to revisit the cube and see if there is some way to know when the edges are aligned.

Sometimes images can look as though they are lined up but when you change the view to 100% you can then see a very slight gap that doesn't show when the images is shown at lower than 100%

I had a couple of small gaps.. but I did have a big one I don't know how I missed.
Maybe I was just so excited about how it was turning out. :)

Gary ...
If the gaps are small and the background of the images is plain ... then you can cheat by putting a layer below the images and just painting over the gaps :)

Hi Janis,
Which technique are you speaking of?
Thanks for the compliment. My edges didn't match very well either on the cube but it was my first attempt.

I do have a couple of questions.
Why do you have to spin the cube around to see the bakside???
Is there a way to constrain it (perfect cube) like holding the shift key keeps squares square?

Thanks.
Are you talking about the ones with two pictures each? The technique is from Linda Stattgast. She is #1 in my book as far as being a digital scrapbook diva. I'll see if I can find the link for you if that is the one you want to find out about.

Janis, I found the tuts for these. They are pretty lengthy. I'll try to scan them since I printed them out. There are two separate tuts. One to make the background that looks like cork board, the other for the lattice. If I can find the pdf file on my computer I'll e-mail them to you.

Janis, I found the links for the two tuts.
The first one is
http://www.scrappersguide.com/tutorial_040.html
this shows you how to get the cork board effect for the background
The second link is
http://www.scrappersguide.com/tutorial_041.html
this is the one where you start putting all the pieces together.
have fun!

Anna ...
You would put the images on the cube in the same way that you distort the frame in the border breakout Video (Subscriber area Video dated 15th July).
Now about new books :) .... take a look at:
