I have installed a new version of elements 6 on windows vista home premium. My problem is when i open it I get the welcome screen, Then when i go to organizer I get a windows message saying "Adobe photshop organizer has stopped working, close program and windows will notify you of a solution. I can open editor, but now can't open share or create. (I could before). I have a brand new HP media center with 2-320 gig sata drives, intel quad processor,3 gig of ram. I believe i have a 7000 series g force vid card. I have talked to adobe tech support to no avail, microsoft won't help with a manufacturer installed operating system, and HP is useless. I have installed the 30 day trial verison of light room but find it very technical. I sure would like photoshop as i have a new touch ipod that is dependant on photoshop to sync photos.

I think we might have the same PC - I have a new HP Media Center PC with quad core with 2-320 GB hard drive, 3 gb ram.... I also installed the trial version of PSE 6 - I could access the organizer, but could only get it to import 2 or 3 pictures, and I could open editor from there, so I went back to PSE 5.02, which works great on my PC. Hope somebody will have a better answer for you! GOOD LUCK!

Did you have any antivirus type software running during install? It must be disabled when you install pse.

I have tried everything even reformatting my computer. When I reformatted I installed photoshop (after windows updates) as the only software i loaded. I did it by shutting down services and startup items and disconnecting user control, cant' get any cleaner and to no avail. This is really frustrating. I originally tried elements 5 but it did the same thing so adobe recommended waiting for 6 as it was made for vista. Whenever I install software I always shut down firewalls and anti virus programs. I even shut down windows defender as I thought that might be the problem.

I wonder if the quad processor has anything to do with it??

Did you install as Administrator? (Right click on .exe of the install file and left click on run as administrator). Since I started doing that after running into a problem installing ProShow Gold on my new Vista machine - installations have worked perfectly.:)

I'm running PSE 5 on Windows Vista Ultimate. The hardware is a 2.66Ghz Core 2 Quad, I have 2GB RAM, and a 6 disk RAID 0+1 array. This isn't an off-the-shelf machine. I built it based on an EVGA Nvidia 680i motherboard, with an EVGA NVidia 8800 GTS 640mb graphics card.
I ran into one little quirk with PSE, but it was resolved with the 5.02 update.
So it's possible to run PSE on Vista on a Quad Core machine ...
Let me know if there are any settings or anything you'd like me to check for the sake of comparison in debugging your problem.

Mary, Yes I did run the exe file with administrator with no luck.
I installed the program on my wife's computer running vista home premium and it works fine. So the adobe tech and I compared the 2 and it came down to me having my hard drives hooked up with raid config, so I removed the raid and still nothing.
Bhieser, Yes I would love any help you could give with settings etc.

Honestly I'm not sure what to try. But if there are any Windows settings etc you'd like to compare let me know. As I mentioned, i'm running PSE5 (not 6) on Vista Ultimate.

I had the same problem
I downloaded the 7.3 version of adobe reader then downloaded the service pack 1 for Vista.
Seems to have sorted out that problem at least
