missing files

when i go to my picture browser all my photos show an icon at the bottom of each pic,it is a red square torn in half. if i try to edit or do any other functions a missing file notice comes up, then it starts to search . at the end of the search a reconnect missing files page comes up from here on i dont have a clue of what to do

You can help us by being much more specific.

Instead of saying "when i try to do anythig with them", tell us exactly what you are trying to do, and exactly what the error message is.

And what do you mean by saying "they are still there"? Where? How do you know they are still there -- does Windows tell you they are still there or does PSE tell you they are still there? If you can see the image in PSE, are there any unusual icons in a corner of the image?
