Hi Folks,
Sorry for my absence, but I was pondering what software to purchase until I found someone that sold me a copy of PhotoShop CS2 New in the box for a price I could not pass up. Does this mean that I have to find a new home? Do I need to find a CS2 Forum or are the programs similar enought that I can learn and share here?
Please advise
Ric

I'd say stick around. We're a friendly group. Many here use all versions of elements as well as cs2 and cs3.

Thanks for that advice.... My research has indicated that the process in Elements and CS2 are so similar that I think I can learn from you folks. I in no way wanted to disappear. My problem is that I have not a clue where to start. I have a heavy background in PC, Servers, and networking for now 20 years. I will not have problems with the PC. I am looking for a place to start and wish to use this program as a hobby. I posted a Pic of my Sublime Charger to show my area of interest. I am sure there will be more though. Thank you for the advice.

This is a very friendly, helpful site and I've learned a lot here, so the invitations to stay are right on.
There is another forum that you might also be interested in. RetouchPRO (http://www.retouchpro.com) is the home of many hobbyists and professionals who routinely work with very difficult retouching and restoration projects - what you learn there will compliment what you can learn and contribute here. They are also a very friendly bunch and are eager to share what they know with newcomers.
Take care, Margaret

Ric, I am still using CS2....I tried CS3 and well, I staying with CS2 for now. I am still able to follow tutorials no problems, and many people still have CS2. Take it, because once you have it, you'll get to upgrade at discounted prices!!!! And if you look at some of the magazine racks in stores, you'll be able to purchase the NAPP photoshop user magazine....I did this periodically until I actually joined NAPP. However, this forum is just as "beefy" as the NAPP forum....so no, don't go...we like you here!!!

The guys here run Photoshopuser.com or NAPP. It is a bit more of a professional sort of site, but subscribers to that site get access to their tutorials and videos etc.
I haven't become more involved that much in the froums there, so I can't say one way or the other how it is.
One other thing to check out is Bert Monroy's podcasts. He is a wizard and while his stuff is a bit advanced he demos it in a real easy to understand sortof way.

um....I'm a weenie, but I use CS2 mainly for batch processing simple actions, like Noiseware, etc. and to use out of the box actions:p If you are using PSE, you are already learning:D But for real, I'm a NAPP member and use their site alot, as well as their subscriptions (Photoshop User and Layers). Go to their website and download a free copy of the subscription..... and as I mentioned, look in the magazine racks for Photoshop User....
Gary, can you access the forum without being a member? I tried to do that today without logging in and could not get to it (just for Ric's sake)....

I did not think they were open to the public, because when I registered I had to provide my NAPP no.
No biggy Ric....this forum can help CS2 users too!!!!! we all have our resources....

i use cs2 as well and am a member of both elements and napp but find i spend most of my time here, just because the forums are always alive and chatty and you'll find many experienced photoshop members who will help you out in case you get stuck but don't let the napp site intimidate you, they are a friendly bunch, but they don't have as much time to help out cause mostly they are a professional set of individuals. i think the napp site is wonderful, they have tons of EXCELLENT video and written tutorials and the portfolios are just superb. if you've got the cash, i would go for both subscriptions, if not .. this forum will more than serve your needs :)
