I am a new owner of version 5, and less than a month after I purchased it Adobe came out with version 6. My question is ... if there are existing "bugs" in 5 will there be updates from Adobe to fix them or must you upgrade to 6 for the fixes?

Bill,

If you call Adobe, they MAY let you upgrade to 6 for a small shipping fee. You will probably have to send a copy of your reciept.

They will not send out updates for 5.0 now that 6.0 is out.

No real immediate need to move to 6. There are a couple of nice enhancements, but it seems a bit harder to get the addons in. Its not impossible just harder.

If you arent familiar with Elements, then learn 5, and get 7 next year when that comes out.:)

Gary,

So would you recommend me , a PSE3 devotee, to get 5 or 6? I can't make up my mind at the moment, but I'm leaning towards 5....

Personally, I prefer 5 - especially for the ability to drag up from the photo bin and be able to have it name that layer in the layers pallet the name of that file. Very handy when scrapbooking. The only thing better in 3, to me, is the red-eye fix.

Wendy,

So do I & I'll probably still keep it on the computer if only for the global lighting, but there's a couple of nifty things which I'm always wanting which it doesn't have. In particular Shift-click to select multiple layers and the text box - it would make journalling life so much easier :)

HI Bayla

It is hard to say..If you HAVE to upgrade I prefer 5 right now.

Mind you, with 6 still new, there is very likely some advantages to some of the new features that I just don't grasp.

I think my biggest put off is the thing with addons being kind of weird to install and have show up correctly. I also have a bit of a problem with the dark colour scheme..not huge and I do like the general look better but black on dark grey can be hard to see.

just my opinion.
