PET Creative Homework (week #39)

Hi everyone,

Well a day later than usual but here is this week's creative homework assignment.
First of all I'd like to thank Kimi for creating this thread and making it such a success and so popular. I know I've learned a lot from following this thread, so I hope to be able to continue the tradition :)

So here goes:
As always this assignment is open to EVERYONE who is reading the forum.

this week's tutorial is an abstract creation (and I hope not a duplication)

A couple of notes I made going along:
Step 1 in PSE5 the lens flare effect is under filter>render> lens flare

Step 3 the hue/saturation adjustment is under the enhance menu - enhance >adjust colour> hue/sat (or Ctrl U) and has colorize checked

Step 6 for flipping the layer it is under the image menu (not the edit menu) image>rotate>flip layer.....

I made a blue one first following the tutorial and then thought I'd try a different colour and played about with the waves too

Did the blue as in the tutorial, but instead of doing a completely different one, I used my original blue and reset the Hue to 300 and Saturation to 0 and came up with this effect.

Interesting effect, but lots of work.

I had to use Overlay instead of Lighten at 1-2 instances to get the effect to show... Here's the result:

Thanks Lisa for taking it on and this one was fun. Started out as per turotial and then starting messing around with a few color changes.

Would you believe this started out as this weeks crop challenge :eek:. Basically the same technique although I did give it some extra colour and texture by doing a magic wand selection on the highlights and giving them a photo filter and layer style treatment. Hmm - wonder what one of those Gold styles would do ...... :D

The possibilities with this are countless. I liked the initial color of the lens flares, so I added those back in, used the image as a displacement map for the '53 Corvette and played with blending modes. Wonderful fun!

I did another last night and again today. Today I followed Bill's directions and duplicated the flare layer. The duplicate I changed the mode to Difference. For the border around it, I made it a pattern from a layer underneath and used a pattern adjustment layer over the background so I could scale it.

I probably did it all wrong. Didn't check colorize so did not get a color. Did a gradient.
